343 did a frikken survey with everyone who played the H5 beta and over 70 percent said to keep sprint in the game.

Another reason could be that the 360 is still being supported and the X1 is too expensive for older gamers. I also think that if the MCC was not broken at launch and actually worked like it was supposed to that H5 would have a higher population and the people that were on the fence about getting an X1 would have purchased one.

> That’s such a flawed argument though. Every game in existence has an inflow of new players and an outflow of old players. It’s not a phenomenon unique to Halo and it in itself doesn’t explain Halo’s decline.
>
> Look at my Sig. People bashed the -Yoink- out of the new CoD and I’m sure many of those people being CoD3-CoD4 fans had a significant part in it.
You’re comparing apples to oranges. COD has a massive appeal to casuals because anyone can pick it up with its little learning curve. Not to mention COD is distributed yearly on multiple platforms making the game relevant. There’s a lot of more factors to the decline of the Halo series.
What most people don’t seem to comprehend is that while that old formula that worked for the trilogy was very successful other games have come and either have build from it and in some instances improved it. Halo needs to evolve to be successful.

No, it’s because Halo fans aren’t all allied by the brand name…and just want a good Halo game, it just happens to be that 343i has been doing a pretty bad job so far. People who only cared about Bungie…tend to move onto Bungie related games like Destiny but in the end 343i are the ones that are managing Halo so they’ve got a lot to learn before they can please a majority of the fans.

‘selective survey’, I wonder how many people never got the survey, I know plenty that would have said no to sprint, even now after release…there are plenty of higher rated voted survey’s against sprint. I’m sure a few people that got the survey are pretty small compared to the people that publicly voted against this.

How is removing or reimagining all the crappy gameplay mechanics from Reach and 4 and refocusing the game on map/power weapon control “a bad job”? 5 is much closer to 3, but people are so blinded by their nostalgia that they can’t see past the Sprint, Spartan Charge, and Clamber to notice.

I find Halo 3 too slow when I go back to play it now. I loved that game but wouldn’t want to lose sprint now that it’s here.
Try playing the campaign more than twice without skipping cut scenes. I like the multiplayer but I also bought halo 5 for the story and so far I can barely force down a mission or two every 2 weeks. The held back content also bugs me, I mean some people say that halo shouldn’t have a bunch of playlists that only exist because they were in past games but infection, firefight, and forge to a lesser degree are very popular. At least forge came out relatively quickly or else 343i would have had to make at least half their new maps themselves.
I played all Halo and had a a lot of playtime in each game. The thing for me is, i like the way 343 is taking Halo to a new kind of experience. Halo 5’s multiplayer is fast, fun and all movements fit together well. I hope they will not make a complete new multiplayer for Halo 6, just improve few things and give the people more to play with ( Halo 3’ Elefant for example ). The campaign was incomplete and needed more time, it feels like they forgot 6 missions. However im looking forward to 343’s Halo.

Going back to the fundamental concept of even starts doesn’t in itself suddenly make Halo 5 the best Halo of all time.
Ok, I tried reading the replies, but 9 pages gets to be much. First of all I’m 39 and have played every Halo game that’-Yoink!- the market. Growing older doesn’t change what you enjoy doing. I also know plenty of older gamers that still play.
The flaws that are driving people away from the game are pretty simple. First off 343 is putting way to much emphasis on the feedback they get from pro players. While I agree they are an integral part of the community and their feedback should be weighed along with everything else, they are also a small percentage of the overall community. And I’m not talking about the players that think they’re pro just because they’re really good, I mean actual pro players.
Also, and I know it’s been talked about time and again, but this ranking system is crap. Take FFA Slayer for example. There is no team to weigh your rank against so your rank should be based entirely on your own performance. How do you justify ( for example) playing diamond players in every game of the ranking process and pulling first or 2nd in each game. Most players under you being at least 7 kills less and having a negative kd compared to your positive kd. And yet in the end you still rank out platinum? That makes no sense at all and would take flawed logic to argue. You should rank at least in the same category as the players you are beating. In every other game type you can argue it’s how you played compared to your team and everyone else etc. But in FFA it’s just you and there is no way you should rank lower than the people that you beat no matter how you look at it.

Survey? What survey? I’ve been with the feedback system for over a year and I received no such survey asking about sprint. That’s just what they tell you, it was more than likely a selective survey. They also said that “mlg pros” wanted sprint…yet if you watch HCS they hardly ever use it, they would benefit far more from increased base speed. But sure, proceed with parroting what 343 tells you instead of countering my points.

You’re opinion, not fact. I’m in my fifties and I still buy and play Halo. I also play Titanfall, Doom, BF and Gears. The reason I play them ? They’re all great games. It has nothing to do with accepting change or not, if a game is fun, I’ll play. Your opinions are not facts.

> I know this topic has been talked about a lot but I think we needed these changes. Halo 5 as everyone knows is completely different than CE, halo 2, or 3. Halo CE came out in 2001 if the player base was in high school they would be around 30 something by now. Halo 2 came out in 2004 player base would be around their mid 20s . Halo 3 came out in 2007 the player base now would be in their early 20s or late teens. These are just averages assuming the minimum age to buy halo but there are younger players I was playing halo 2 at the age of 10 but as people get older they grow out of playing xbox daily most original people who played halo ce doesn’t play anymore now it’s the new generation and if they stuck with the old way of playing other games like Titan fall, battle field, and call of duty would get these new players instead of halo because they are going to ask “would I rather jog around a map and shoot or jump across building slide in for a kill with a shot gun?” (And yes I realize the old halos took more skill I’ve played them) what I’m saying is it sounds a lot cooler and more fun to player halo 5 than previous halos and without new players halo will eventually die and some might say well at that point maybe it should and I’ve got to disagree. either way you wouldn’t play halo whether there is a new halo or not but some people enjoy the route halo is going. I’m not saying people who don’t like the way halo 5 has no right to have an opinion I’m saying no one wants to play the same game rapped in a different skin every couple of years unless for some reason you are still complaing that bungie should still be making halo but they would probably be doing the same thing I mean look at destiny so I think bungies halo 4 and 5 would be pretty similar to 343. To end this ill just say I like bungie and 343 both I’ve never judged any game based on who made it. Bungie did a good job with all the halos they have made but that era of gaming is over its time to accept and adapt if you want to continue playing future halos or accept and move on and stop blaming 343 because halo 5 is so different cause they did listen to the community with this one.

So what, we believe that these super soldiers walk around like they have to check out the scenery of their environment?
