the community can't accept change but we need it

Yeah because Halo 4 and 5 are defiantly the best in everyone’s eyes, not to mention Halo 5 didn’t sell great. Look at games like CS:GO and the new DOOM, Halo doesn’t need sprint or obnoxious abilities to be popular. This kind of stuff is driving away a BIG chunk of the community, exactly what CoD is going through right now with Infinite Warfare. I don’t know why you’re bringing age into this, Halo had a perfect formula, it set standards, it made trends.
Now Halo hides in the shadows and follows formulas and trends from other shooters. Just because there’s equal starts in multiplayer doesn’t exactly mean it feels like Halo.
If that were the case, Gears of War and Unreal Tournament also “FEEL JUST LIKE CLASSIC HALO MULTIPLAYER :D”
Halo at this point is pretty much Call of Duty with precision reticles and longer TTK.
People like you keep making the argument “Halo needs to change/evolve, or it will die.” It kills me when people say that, you know why? Because THAT’S when the downfall of Halo started, when it changed. Ever since Reach, Halo has lost A TON of popularity and no longer has the golden, respected throne it once had.
Ever since Halo started “evolving” it also keeps losing casuals and fans.
I love Halo, and that’s why I criticize it. You can’t love something and not criticize it, right?
Halo’s never going to go back to it’s golden state until it gets a hold of itself.

And no the core fan base getting older is just a lame excuse to try and give 343i a pass. Fact is their games just suck compared to previous halo games. Worse sales numbers, worse population stats… There is literally zero evidence to suggest otherwise.

The majority of players have played the more successful games not to mention Halo 2 and 3 were defibrillated with MCC not even a year before Halo 5 came out. If Halo 5 felt like a game we had already played the crap out of and have to an extent, gotten bored of, then obviously everyone would lose interest much faster.

You want eveidence? Halo MCC had Halo 2 (plus a rejuvinated H2A) and Halo 3, the two most successful games in the series but couldn’t even retain it’s player base as well as Halo 4 did, which is statistically atrocious compared to the three games that came before it.

You guys complain about Halo not being like it was back in the day but if it was you sure as hell wouldn’t be playing H5 anymore…

You really are crazy if you believe the population of MCC dropped because they didn’t enjoy Halo 2/3. Thanks man, you made my day.

THE GAME WAS BROKEN, AND STILL IS.

Actually, there was no evidence for Halo to change. Its population was gigantic in 1-3, due to it being unique. Halo has always stood out because it was a methodical shooter where strategy won games, instead of Call of Duty where you can just run and gun. As more fast paced shooters came out, Halo would have even more incentive to play because many people like playing for fun, so slower paced games make sense. Now, we are just power rangers zooming across maps, instead of the feared hulking supersoldier we once were.

It is not broken. Just because your internet sucks doesn’t mean others do. Stop hating.

Halo 5 is far more than I thought would be possible from 343i. New and fresh, fast and fun, all while respecting its roots.

Fans can’t accept change?, we accepted changes in 1/2/3, a fair bit in Reach. It’s baffling as to how bad changes in 4,5 suddenly makes it seem like fans can’t accept changes when the fans have been used to changes for the better like when Bungie introduced hijacking or Forge or duel wielding, yet when 343i makes changes then suddenly some of the community forgets this. It’s all about knowing what changes to make and 343i clearly don’t have a clue about what to do.

You didn’t hear? MCC was unplayable for about 5 months. So is there any actual evidence as to why people wouldn’t play an older style game (you know, an older style game that actually works, anyway)?

Bungie made Destiny because they wanted to do something different from Halo. You can’t force change and expect good results. 343i took Halo and tried to change it, as a result both Halo 4 and 5 (and even Reach under Bungie) have all seen the results of trying to change an established franchise.

343i could have told the stories of the ODSTs. Telling a different style of story with different style of gameplay. Instead they sold the games as Halo 4 and 5, sequels to Halo 3, and the drop in sales and population have been negatively affected. Halo 5 currently sits at about 14th on the most played list, and MCC lasted 10 months on there while essentially broken. Halo 5 lasted less than 6, with spikes around the updates and bigger drop offs following each one

You say Halo needed to change. You say 343i listened to fans (trust me when I say no fan asked for LAN and Split Screen to be removed, or forge to be online only). Others on here contend that a classic Halo would fail. You have no evidence that a classic Halo would have failed. While we do have evidence that a change in the direction of Halo has not maintained the franchise’s popularity.

Change we may have needed, but there is no evidence to say we needed the change that 343i has brought in.

You can listen and you can add, but if you don’t listen correctly and add poorly, then your change is not for the better. Bottom line, it feels as if this game was rushed for the holiday season, and then advertised as “beyond the initial 3 months lifespan” most games have with DLC content till June.

I get that it’s free, but customization isn’t doing anything to make the game better or improve on it. The different variant weapons only add a slightly different shade of vanilla to an already known experience.

It seems like there is a lot of changes, but none of them belong to the Halo Universe. They need to go back and re-tool a lot of these changes if they truly want to make it “fit” and not force players who have been here since Day 1. I’m sorry if you just jumped the bandwagon or really like 343i’s previous titles, that doesn’t entitle you to demand I forget anything before three four three.

My internet does not suck. Tell me why I get no lag in any other game but MCC. Tell me why the search restarts after WE ARE VOTING.

Go to the MCC section. You are unbelievably wrong.

I’m wrong? I have had NO issues with Halo MCC since last December. I only have 20 mgps download and 15 upload. Check your facts cause YOU are unbelievably wrong. Get rekt scrub. Get roasted.

Halo 5 is great, I love it. It just needs more playlists and maybe a few more maps.

But the change was not “needed”.

Id be playing H2A all day if it worked and wasn’t apart of the flop MCC is. H2A, imo, is better than Halo 5. But it lacks playlists and maps just like Halo 5. H2A should have been its own game.

Anyways, I do like the changes that H5 brought. But these changes were not “needed”. No way.

No he’s not. Plenty of people have/had issues with MCC. Completely independent of their internet status. If you bothered to hop over to the MCC section you’d understand that. The game is so temperamental you can’t judge his experience based on your own. Me and all my friends can all be sitting here in the same room playing on the same internet and have only one of us get a problem, say like, coming out in to “my game session” or UI problems while searching and the others are totally fine.

All that is because of the junk code and bugs that still sit in the game.

It is an undeniable fact that the halo population in halo 2, halo 3, and even halo reach is far superior than every halo game made by 343i that included all these changes. And no the core fan base getting older is just a lame excuse to try and give 343i a pass. Fact is their games just suck compared to previous halo games. Worse sales numbers, worse population stats… There is literally zero evidence to suggest otherwise.

If you bothered to hop over to the MCC section you’d understand that. The game is so temperamental you can’t judge his experience based on your own. It was completely bugged when it came out. After several weeks, I didn’t have many issues. I still had some yes, but not much that hindered my performance. And yes it has been fixed. Its been fixed for a while now.

I am 24 years old.
I was 13 when Halo 2 came out, and I still think it’s far superior to Halo 5 in every way.

Its had a few patches, but it is still no where near 100%. There are still hit reg. issues in Halo 2C and Halo 3. There are alot of problems still that can be fixed. Its alot better, but still not enough to make it enjoyable for most people.

> It was completely bugged when it came out. After several weeks, I didn’t have many issues. I still had some yes, but not much that hindered my performance. And yes it has been fixed. Its been fixed for a while now.

It’s playable, not fixed. And like I said, you can’t judge other’s experience based on your own because of the bugs and junk code.

As an example of the game not being “fixed” in game party chat still drops out. If you roll with a party you will find many times you can’t hear your team. Making Party Chat the only real way to play MCC with a group. Playable, not fixed.

At the end of last year I decided to try out the CE campaign figuring it should be mostly fine at that point. 10 minutes into the first level I get an audio glitch where there’s no sound and I had to restart my system. I literally couldn’t go 10 minutes without that game -Yoinking!- up over a year later. And that’s just the Campaign which had less complicated issues.
