The commando is the worst weapon the UNSC has ever fielded

It’s actually not an insurrectionist rifle. This was given to the CMA which was part of the UEG before being folded into the UNSC.

Yeah? I swear I heard it was insurgent related. Hm.

Either way! Not standard UNSC fare which is why it looks different. That works for me.

So why is it in the game besides what I stated earlier (343 wanting to add a new weapon just because and not for a legit gameplay reason)? Stranded, marooned UNSC forces down to 10% combat ability should not be capable of manufacturing a low quality civilian weapon for its dwindling combat force without being absolutely insane.

this made me think of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVQvH4qc5cg

The weapon was introduced in 2495 so I’m sure it saw a fair amount of service in the hands of the UNSC prior to 2560. Not as much as the MA series of rifles, but statistically it would have seen a fair amount of combat. There’s just not a lot of confirmed lore though.

It’s not a civilian weapon for starters. As for why the UNSC is using it, well 6.5mm rounds perform better than rocks. They use what they can get their hands on. Where are you getting your information from?

I guess their printing/fabrication depots decided that they could make batches of smaller, weaker weapons and ammo a few seconds faster so they could supposedly arm more troops but all that seems to happen is these supplies continuing to fall in enemy hands lol. I bet that the new Pilot of Echo 216 is making all the big decisions instead of Roland, Lasky, or an actual competent human being.

literally the whiniest character we have ever had to put up with

I really don’t like him. I would’ve preferred the real Echo 216 save us instead of a thief and liar. I came up with a theory that the hologram of the woman and girl we keep seeing throughout the game that he has is the family of the real pilot and he’s just been using them to cope with how much of a failure he is.

They don’t even look similar, he has a thick accent and both of them have American accents. They both seem to have American heritage while Fernando is obviously from South America or has ancestry from there. It was pretty funny when he tried punching the Chief and forgot that he’s wearing armor made from titanium lol.

The pilot has no control over weapon manufacturing. The Infinity is out of commission and the UNSC is effectively decimated by the time we reach Zeta Halo. The banished could easily salvage weapons from dead soldiers or stockpiles. It doesn’t matter if they are VK78 commandos or M395 DMRs. They could easily be salvaged by the banished.

That’s why they should be scuttling equipment before it falls into enemy hands. IE tossing grenades or explosives on caches before being captured to ensure that nothing can be used by the aliens. Its insane how inefficient that the UNSC on Zeta has been acting against an inferior force lead by the dumbest of the Covenant’s races.

If the Infinity just bombarded the Banished from a distance then we’d literally have another ring at out disposal but instead they just let their bridge be rammed and all their forces deleted within the first hour of being near Zeta.

Brutes aren’t actually that dumb. They aren’t best known for their intelligence but they are still incredibly smart. Canonically the banished wouldn’t be interested in UNSC hardware like small arms. They’d prefer forerunner or covenant weaponry. This was probably done as a way to avoid adding more weapons to the game.

The UNSC had control over Zeta Halo as far back as 2553. You underestimate the cunning of the Banished. No captain would just let their ship get rammed in the bridge like you suggested happened.

Echo 216 is the designation for the pelican dropship, not the pilot.

Lasky was a really good commander and Roland was an experienced AI at that point. They also had the disposal of Doc Halsey and the most decorated soldier of all time so I don’t understand how the Infinity was destroyed without the use of horrible writing.

In all the Bungie games Brutes are really shortsighted and get easily offended which allows Humans and Sangheili to kill them easily with precision, whereas they have every other advantage biologically in strength. But with 343’s era they tried to retcon them into being incredibly intelligent when these guys LITERALLY NUKED THEMSELVES BACK TO THE STONE AGE. The Covenant was single handedly the only thing that kept them from completely eradicating themselves because the Prophets saw use in their massive, brutish physiques.

I call him Echo 216 because thats literally what he’s referred to in game

Even bungie era brutes were canonically intelligent.

I don’t think you’re familiar with this concept but: Wow, you can date outside of your race. Incredible, right? Dad spends all his time with the UNSC, of course his daughter’s gonna’ sound and talk more like mom.

My wife is Filipino and I’m of Scandinavian descent - be careful, that little factoid might blow your mind!

The pilot isn’t even UNSC. He’s a volunteer engineer. Why do people make a big deal out of voice actor selection?

I legitimately do not know. But this Ash individual is off their rocker.
