The cleansing beam

Hey guys ,
What do you think of the cleansing beam ?
In my opinion even with the building nerf, it’s power is to high.
Even with good splitting you will loose a high amount units when going infantery, while the power costs almost nothing and has a relative short cooldown.
I would like to see it getting a dmg nerf at least on tier one and two, or increase its cost and reset time.

Level 1 and 2 feel fine to me. With splitting and proper arcing, I usually lose 2-5 units at these levels, which is easily manageable. Level 3 is where I have an issue with the beam, though. With such a high speed, AoE, and damage, it’s very difficult to manage, even if I’m on point with my splits.

For me, I would like to see the beam’s speed lowered at all levels (just a little bit) and level 3’s damage and/or AoE lowered.

EDIT: a longer telagraph would also be interesting, as it would offer more time to split units.

This is a great time to do some split training. As you improve, the relative effectiveness of glassing will go down.

Wasn’t what you’re wanting kind of how the beam was before? A slow beam that units could escape rather easily?

I don’t want it to be slow and a meme again, I simply believe it moves too quickly and could be reduced a whisker. Say, lowering the speed by 4%.

Would be better then the telegraph I admit. That would likely give to much time for anything but tanks to get out of the beam’s path.

LVL 2 beam can kill 2 -3 tanks when they are splitted and take solo dmg.lvl 1 beam can kill to 4 nightingales which are splitted . I think that’s to strong for an ability which is available so early and cost a small amount.
You could also halve Johnson MAC Cooldown by 60 % decrease it cost and move it to a 3 o clock leader power . That has the same effect and is as well unbalanced.

It won’t be lowered or slowed because it one of ship masters only offensive abilities and he desperately needed it to be able to keep up with air speed. Without it he could not do much against air at all, unlike many other leaders who have more than one offensive leader power.

We will see how things go. Ship needed the love, so this definitely helps him.

Do you have a video of level 1 beam killing four Nightingales? I have yet to lose more than one Nightingale to a singular beam when I split. Tanks being vulnerable to LP’s is nothing new, however, even Salvo (arguably the worst offensive) can do massive damage to tanks.

I’ll try to get some recordings of how arcing and splitting can nullify Glassing Beam

I feel it is a little too cost effective at the moment. A slight increase in supplies and power might be more in line with what the beam delivers.

I think he still needs a two point banished raid to make him more viable

I do not disagree.

I’m in favour of cleansing beam damage nerf as well. Level 3 is stronger than ultimates, level two stronger than any other level 3/4. As for ship, he has the best mobility one of the strongest late-games (Can snipe bases really easy with teleports/extraction/warps) and a very powerful drop. Level 1 cleansing beam is easily strong enough at all parts of the game even in late game when slower army comps get chewed up.

The only issue I have with it is that I don’t think it should work through fog of war.

I agree with this.

The problem is they changed too many variables. When balancing, it’s best to change 1 variable at a time because if you don’t you won’t know which variable made the biggest difference. The beam either needed more speed or more power, but it definitely didn’t need that much of both. 3rd Tier is crazy.

Your right it’s a bit too powerful and it needs some nerfs but leaders like ship master, decimus don’t really have offensive powers besides the vortex lightning

Naka, can you post a video showing us plebs how you split on Xbox? Like a little training session. Could even show a controller cam for what your fingers are doing. Being able to split quickly against a beam with a controller is something many struggle with.

One of the main things pc players will have over Xbox is splitting quickly =/

It just needs a slight slow down, so more nimble units could get away and slower tankier units would take it if you go caught off guard. Right now the only units that can outrun it are air units and even then only if you start moving before the beam hits. That seems just a little to fast, he powers alright though, at least I actually pay attention to it now.
