The classic v advanced debate is over

We now know 343 have doubled down for Infinite on sprint clamber, slide and grapple shot as it’s movement mechanics.

343i have certainly chosen their path and drawn a line in the sand and made their design choices and sandbox around this.

So for better or worse the debate should be officially over
There is zero point in us the community debating it any further in regards to infinite as the decision is made.

True. However, my only issue is how the grappleshots mechanics work. Chief should not be pulled towards anything lighter than a brute. This is a pretty easy fix and itd improve immersion hoenstly.

Is it a fun mechanic is my only criteria, I’m playing as a spaceman shooting aliens.
I always preface this that way all logic can be set aside for the gameplay

They could have game modes with classic setting (which I’m personally hoping for).

I love the classic Halo Infinitely (pun intended) more than the new ones but personally I like Sprint and don’t mind clamber. I’m indifferent on slide and grappling is only equipment I’m sure as far as MP is concerned it wont be on every map or every mode.

The only thing I detested was the thruster pack and all the abilities that came with it from 5. Hopefully that’s completely out of the game.

As far as the debate goes, if the game does well I’m sure it will finally snuff out the debate but if it plays and performs poorly, in the words of Master Chief “We’re just getting started” lol

That’s stupid. This is a forum meant to discuss Halo. The debate will go on as long as these mechanics exist within it. Is it beating a dead horse? Probably, but people can still walk away from these debates having learned a thing or two.

Yeah lots of learning to be had in that after roughly 4 comments back and forward it turns personal and gets rather petty and nasty.

I’m all for debate but 343 have decided the it’s seems cemented the movement mechanics of halo moving forward , after all the feedback of the last decade it isn’t like they wouldn’t been across this classic v advanced debate.
It’s over from 343s end classic lost the battle and the war.

They keep nerfing sprint more and more with each title and it looks like they axed a few abilities from H5, so it’s not a total waste in terms of feedback.

So in about 3 games time if they axe a few more each title , So at 343 current game production rate thats roughly 2030 plus an extra 10 years for the infinite announced lifespan.

I for one can’t wait for the 2040 classic halo release date

You’re missing the point though. Debate isn’t just about feedback. Sometimes it’s just for the sake of debating. If you’re tired of the topic then don’t enter those threads.

Because three games is the deciding number?

i343 corrected a lot of things for Reach.
People had hopes, and then i343 doubled down on loadouts and stuff.
Wouldn’t the debate be over then? At that point?

You’re not obliged to partake in any movement debate or discussion. You need not read any of the threads you dislike.

If you find that other subjects should be discussed, you create those threads, and try to keep them alive.
But what you’ve said here is nothing new or unique, and could be applied to many other things in the past, which did change after plenty of feedback.

Heck, Infinite could do extremely poorly, the 10 year plan abandoned, old higher ups replaced with new ones who’d look at things differently.

And, there are things to learn during these debates, not just about the game, but practical things to apply elsehwere in other debates.
So no, it’s not over.

I’m more than happy to debate classic v advanced in game design or even as pertains to halo in general however in the case of infinite it seems a mute point now the gameplay reveal has shown its hand as to the movement direction.

Yea i second the opinoin that disccussions should go on. Just because change doesnt seem possible,or becasue a few people take it personally doesnt mean we shouldnt have the discussion. Heck, we still have people who think people who dont want sprint want a halo 3 clone…
We still have people who think people who want sprint want to remove the ability from people to shoot while running.
Clearly we need alot more dialogue to occur in order for people to communicate their ideas and stances. WIthout dialogue the community is just going to become more and more polarized imo.

It’s never over.
