Hey guys so I was wondering why the there are multiple chieftans in halo 3 when there is only one chieftan of the brutes in halo 2? And why does each have their own gravity hammer, because there was only one fist if rukt which is tartarus’ or the chieftans. You know what i mean if you read contact harvest
They are two separate ranks. There are several Chieftains, and above them, the War Chieftains, who have presumably proven themselves to be great warriors above the rest and earned their power.
But above all of them, since all the Brute Packs are in the Covenant, there has to be someone leading them, or the separate packs under their Chieftains will go to war with each other.
So, the “Chieftain of the Brutes” is actually a rank. Yes, all four words. And only one guy can hold this rank at a time.
Now, that’s the reasoning behind it. As for something to make it less confusing, it’s like how in real life we have multiple Generals, but above them we have one General of the Army.
