The challenge system remains

I was wrong here lol, I had more challenges then I thought. 2 left now before the final challenge. Gotta go to work to cover for someone for a few hours first though sadly.

Still, something that has a whole week to complete that can be easily done in like 2 hours?

The fact that it’s still there and not the commendations system.

The source of XP needs to shift completely towards match performance while challenges take the back seat.

I need a better reason to collect XP.

I’m already halfway through the Winter Update and I have not been playing an excessive amount.

I’ve played three matches today and I’m already done half of the challenges.

And I only tried for one of them - two shot caller medals - which is easy in SWAT.

I agree with this completely Hyper. If Match Making is based on CSR and SBMM then why isn’t performance the driving force? Performance should absolutely be the driving force behind XP for all players.

Welp, that was fun for a week. Finished the Winter Update 30 tier pass, and collected this weeks Participation Trophy. What’s next?

Forge and custom games my friend

That is what they’re trying to do. They said that they’re trying to focus on match xp with the challenges as a little bonus. In my opinion however still having challenges in the background that want you to do specific things and aren’t just general get so many kills, play so many games or win so many games it’s just going to condition people to continue playing in a way that they wouldn’t normally.

I think all the challenges I had last week were fairly generalized and simple to complete except for the one with getting guardian angels and metals like those that are situationally dependent. I’m actually going to check to see what my challenges are for this week right now so…

Melee kills 1-50xp
Kills/assists 20-50xp
Melee kills 3-100xp
Back smack 1-150xp
UNSC weapon kills 10-50xp
Multikill medals 1-100xp
Skewer kill 1-159xp
Kills/assists 20-50xp
Complete matches 3-100xp
Complete matches 5-150xp
And whatever the capstone challenge is.

It’s fairly generalized and can be done in basically any playlist or game type which is what I’ve been suggesting since launch. The only one that’s not really generalized is the skewer challenge which requires getting a kill with specifically the skewer. Which to be fair for me is just going to be a couple of games of fiesta. As a matter of fact I could probably just get all of this done in fiesta fairly quickly. However I did notice when I was playing yesterday morning that my challenge for getting kills with banished weapons did not progress when I got kills with the energy sword, skewer or the hammer. It seems like it reads those as specifically power weapons and not a faction weapon. Which is something I might need to submit a report on because now I have the UNSC weapon kills challenge and I can see if it tracks kills with a rocket launcher and sniper rifle.

I honestly was afraid that we would see more rumble pit challenges considering they brought it back this week. When I saw all the messages that went out from Halo about rumble pit rotating back in I was instantly filled with dread. But hey no it’s actually all pretty good so that’s kinda awesome.

Update on the UNSC weapon challenge. It did track the UNSC power weapon kills along with the others. I did get 10 UNSC kills in one game, but it only counted 9. The very last one I got was a frag kill so they may not count that, but I think it should. It’s in the UNSC arsenal, it’s a UNSC weapon. Why not count it?
