I think that I can safely say that the challenge system is at least 80% of the reason that I don’t like this game. For the player, the loop is the worst feeling positive feedback loop that I have every experienced in any game that I have ever played. It results where the entire time you are playing the game you are either a.) not progressing or b.) unable to play the game the way that you want to. It feels absolutely horrible.
I am so tired of being FOMOed into playing 5 games of FFA, or getting 10 kills with the turret, or back smacking 3 enemies, or getting 10 kills with the Plasma Carbine. It’s endless.
And to make things even worse, I haven’t played this game with my friends in MONTHS. Whenever we “play” Halo together now, it’s just us sitting in a party doing our own thing because the challenge system doesn’t allow us to progress together. It sucks the fun out of every single aspect of the game and I am so good on it.
I write this while searching for a FFA game. It’s been at least 3 minutes. I don’t want to play FFA. What am I doing wasting my time on this lol.
