The Challenge of Halo

Hello all,

I had avoided making any gameplay commentaries for Halo 4 because I was finding it a bit too challenging.

However, after playing for a while, I’d like to share this video with you.

Please leave any feedback here, or in the comments section.

Thanks, and happy holidays!

First point: you mention you don’t get a 30 round mag to spray and pray. You get a lot more. 32 for AR I believe and close to 60+ if using the Saw which you just happen to pick up when you’re saying that and you do what right after? Spray and pray, that’s right. Not once did I see people helping you to team shot someone. I only saw small instances where a bullet would hit someone and you’d finish them off or you just get into 1v1’s.

At 1:46 you say people don’t want to adapt, that’s not the case and you are so wrong for even saying that. I’ve adapted and I still hate this -Yoinking!- game because it just plain sucks. It’s not competitive either nor does it give you “a beat down” for a learning curve (you must not be that good). Also, noticed the guy lagging really bad and yet you still got a headshot off on him?

1:50 - 1:56 (some moments within the 2 minute mark): Again, more lag. Do you enjoy people rubberbanding like that? How can you consider this good gameplay?

Too much gameplay stops and starts, and too many games cramped in together. You edited and cut to only show you killing people. Great. Show the FULL game where you die as well so people can see the -Yoink-.

Wow, you are lagging all OVER the place… (I’ve mentioned this 3 times all ready and you don’t seem to mention it ONE time. Are you blind or just ignoring it?

These guys are NOTHING like Bungie, if anything you’ll see more playlists TAKEN OUT than added. KOH Removal, Slayer Pro Removal, Team Snipes removal. What have they added? Swat and a DLC only playlist. Oh man, that’s so unique and fun! Give me a break.

You mention teamwork then go on to say not to get into a vehicle and to be by yourself. Nice way to contradict yourself there.

Wow, um… nice try I guess but I feel you didn’t do a great job with the commentary and the video. Nice small effects at the beginning and such though. Everything else needs an improvement, big time.

Happy holidays.

Haha thanks for the feedback.

Like I stated, I’m not particularly gifted at the game, but felt I had to cover it as a lover of FPSs.

The gameplay itself was not edited before the commentary and so what was happening in the game was not directly commented upon. This is due to me visiting family and wanting the commentary to be finished beforehand.

As for the bigger mag, the need to take out shields and then go for the kill means a lot slower Time-to-kill when compared to Call of Duty/Battlefield etc.

The SAW is one of the power weapons is it not? Meaning that it is supposed to be better than the starting weapons, like Rockets? The Spartan Laser?

As for showing deaths, I prefer to keep the pace going for 4-6 minutes, rather than showing a full 10+ minute gameplay, with live commentaries/Let’s Plays being the exceptions of course.

Despite the tone of your comment combined with a more than explicit distaste for 343, it is nonetheless appreciated.

May your holidays be happy also, and your list of resolutions manageable.

On the contrary from the previous post Mack I thought the video was well said. Granted there are a few aspects you have yet to touch on for competitive gaming in Halo 4 but as you’ve said you are rather new to this game and thus I would not expect you to pick up on such things so quickly. However, from the gaming you have done its evident you understand the basic points of the game. I understand not everyone will share my opinion but I certainly agree with your assessment of sticking with the game will eventually build your skills. This game’s learning curve is not as excessive as previous Halo’s and thus can be a game for all to enjoy.

I personally enjoy Halo 3 more than I enjoy this title but that by no means takes away from the excitement I feel for Halo 4. For 343’s first game I think they have done a fantastic job. I understand some fans want a copy and paste of the older Halo titles which they have grown with and loved but as time goes on there will be change. Understanding this I believe 343 has done a fantastic job, even if I myself nit pick on some occasions. Regardless your statement of the differences between Halo and Battlefield/COD is correct and certainly sets them apart from Halo, hence my enjoyment of the game. I agree with your idea of strafing and aiming being key, gunplay has always been a Halo uniqueness however I do believe this game has elements to allow players to be just as brutal in a lonewolf fashion as well as a wolfpack one. Its simply a matter of the skills from the opponents and what the situation calls for, which is why I love the diversity of this game.

Overall you touched on plenty of things with spot on accuracy. Yes the lagging in the gameplay did throw me off a bit but the main focus was the commentary, and that I certainly did enjoy. I hope to one day run into you in matchmaking so we can share a game or two, but if not I did enjoy this video and do hope you keep giving Halo a try. Happy Holidays Mack.
