The campaign was fun but poorly advertised

The campaign wasn’t bad but the execution was poor

Id go so far to say that because of the forced squad system, it really wasnt that fun. I never got into co-op play so maybe that would be better, but I wouldn’t know because the game just wasnt fun enough to incentivize me giving it another go.

Wasn’t a big fan of the campaign and I totally agree the portrayal of the campaign in the marketing was horrendous considering none of the stuff shown didn’t actually happen.

I don’t remember the campaign very well but I do remember beating it and not playing it again! They did add a new co-op mode I would love to try, but they should have had that to begin with. If you look at Halo 2, the split screen co op was absolutely repeatable. Halo 3 had skulls and extra findables that kept the replay value. Halo 4 had added stuff taken from Call of Duty but it is definitely fun, the campaign was not as memorable for me either! A lot of people worshipped Halo 2. I do appreciate Halo 5 and the different multiplayer mechanics to keep it somewhat fresh and give it variety. The weapons for each one are on point. I am excited for Infinite … but Halo 5 is still a lot of fun.

Strongly disagree.

I don’t mind dying in campaigns, it happens. But I STRONGLY dislike going down and watching my 3 AI teammates walk around, not killing anything, and not reviving me. It was incredibly frustrating to say the least.

Playing with other humans in the Coop was much more enjoyable if less difficult than a mythic firefight but that just let you fully pay attention to the plot, which was…

Garbage. Their marketing campaign, Hunt for Truth, set everyone’s expectations very high for some sort of catastrophe that would either be caused or stopped by 117. Instead, we received a poorly written story that essentially had 117, the man who we’ve played multiple time to save the galaxy time and time again, as a victim. Yeah, 117 was actually a victim in Halo 5 and had to be rescued by the B-Team, Osiris.

Individually, I like Osiris and their potential. If Halo 5 had been a spinoff game similar to Reach or ODST, but focused on Osiris then they would have been much better received than how they were. But instead, we played them side by side with Blue Team, and there was no difference in skill or gameplay between them. Worse, 117 and Blue Team were treated as second fiddle to Osiris, which rubbed everyone wrong even if they can’t articulate why. It goes back to my previous point, you can’t play as a character who consistently saves the galaxy, then have them essentially be a princess locked away in a castle. It just rubs everyone wrong.

There was also the fact that the very first mission in Halo 5 you “assassinate” a certain elite that you spent days hating in Halo 4 due to the Spartan OPS. And you, as the player, couldn’t even get any catharsis from that act as it’s done in a cutscene. So yeah, I strongly disagree that Halo 5’s campaign was “fun”.

I liked the story from the campaign. Didnt try coop because I have always played split screen coop in Halo games.

Halo 5 campaign was not good in my opinion. At all.

I hated how the control felt more like COD, Halo is my jam and I will NOT accept it becoming trash like that severely rereleased game. Despite what a lot of people may say, I’m just happy that Halo 5 exists, same can be said about Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike. Along with 5 I feel these 3 games are the weakest in the franchise, but I will still repeatedly play the living hell out of them…BECAUSE…at the end of the day, they are Halo <3

I don’t think the Halo 4 campaign had any redeeming qualities. It’s the first Halo game where I felt like playing the Campaign was a chore.

The marketing sucked and the split focus wasn’t executed well. Locke and his team we’re just eh, no real great or memorable moments other than Locke fighting Chief for one cut scene. The best character conflict is Chief and Arby from Halo 2. The guys have legitimate reasons to be against each other that are built up even before the start of Halo 2. Locke is a ONI spook. Why should we care about him chasing Chief? Chief is obviously the good guy. Going AWOL isn’t a reason enough to hunt him like a terrorist, even if Chief is a top military asset. If they wanted to give Locke’s story more merit show some kind of bad affect Chief’s absence had on humanity. Or maybe show Locke as a bad guy that doesn’t really give -Yoink- about the galactic struggle and just wants to get paid or maybe something philosophical. I don’t know what motivates Locke or his team in Halo 5 other than we need to track down Chief because of Guardians? Halo’s version of Metal Gear. 343 said in Halo 4 they wanted to make a more human story. With Halo 5 they created a space opera without good reasons to care about what’s going on other than Chief loves Cortana and Cortana can’t take the mantle of responsibility for the galaxy with Chief trying to stop her from commiting cosmic genocide.

This reminds me I need to finish Hunt the Truth. I’m about 1/2 finished and it’s incredibly well done. Almost 6 hours!

That said… has very little to do with the H5 story LMAO

Even with good advertising, the campaign leaves much to be desired.

I liked the halo 5 campaign overall.

Op sums it up pretty well in title, game was fun but people were misled in advertising and that created alot of problems. The game is good not great but also not bad, and 1 thing I will say to it’s credit is it left me pumped for the next 1. Things are getting REAL in the haloverse lol

Literally, my argument each time is that they are halo and I will still play them.

I am the same as you.
