Before you grab your torches and pitchforks, hear me out, okay?
A few days ago I had an inexplicable urge to play the campaign again of Halo 5: Guardians. I couldn’t tell you where the urge had come from, just that it had developed and I knew I must satisfy it. Now, bear in mind that I hadn’t played any of the campaign missions for nearly a year maybe two before now, and while I could remember the major details, the finer ones had leaked out of my head, so it was more-or-less a new experience for me despite being an old one if that makes sense.
I got to say, replaying the campaign again, it was not as bad as I seem to remember it being. I can’t remember what made me dislike the campaign in the first place, but whatever it was I seemed to have misjudged. People say that the multiplayer is better than the campaign, and while I agree, I do think that the campaign is close behind it. Yes, the squad mechanic is terrible (I wished the AI would prioritise the player more), but in terms of story, graphics, gameplay and music, I honestly cannot fault it. Dare I say I kinda missed playing the campaign?
I completely agree with this. Let’s be clear… It still isn’t a great Halo campaign. However…
I played it with a lot of bias and harsh expectations when it released, as a super fan of the series (like many of you). I was hating on every little thing.
I did another playthrough months removed from launch. I didn’t rush, I played careful, used the team mechanics, and just took it all in. I liked it so much better than my first playthrough. I remember telling my friends how much I loved it, and I’m a fairly even keel guy, so they were a bit perplexed (knowing my initial feelings).
I liked it a lot, but I wanted way more Master Chief and Blue Team. I loved the squad system and am sad it looks like it won’t be back.
the campaign is okay although i think they could have focused a little bit more with blue team instead of Osiris team, because blue team is way better (my opinion).
The story is mediocre, but I like the layout of the levels. I also really like the Squads, especially since you can tell them to pick up certain weapons, revive other squad members, and move them around. I really enjoyed the hidden power weapons, they were really cool.
Hah yeah! it was really my first halo game ive played (because the Xbox one was my first console) and i didnt think it was that bad! then i played halo 2 and knew whats up. well I knew why people didnt really like it. Sure its different (with a team and the whole plot) but its not that bad.
