The Breaking - Legendary

Okay, seriously. How the -Yoink- is this supposed to be fair, let alone winnable? Was able to run solo through the entire mission relatively easily, even the first two Wardens in the triple Warden fight, but the turrets at the end change everything. There’s no way for you to fight both at once, and your team lasts no more than about 5 seconds no matter what you do. Literally everything in the room is a one shot kill, and the only cover on the map is useless with Warden flushing you out.

There is not enough Incineration Cannon on the map to do this, and Light Rifle, even scoped in, cannot kill even a single turret before the remaining Warden or one of the other turrets kills you and your entire team.

How the hell do you pull this off? More to the point, I want to know if anyone at 343 ever play tested this and actually BEAT it, because I’ve run every single Halo on solo Legendary before and this is hands down even worse than dealing with Halo 2’s Jackal snipers - snipers which were bad enough that they were specifically nerfed in Halo 3.

Use your team as bait, or use yourself as bait and have your team fire on the Warden. AI do a hell of a lot more damage than you.

They don’t last long enough. Believe me, I’ve been doing that, and it works when it’s just the Warden. The problem is that after you kill the second Warden the map suddenly spawns 8 focus turrets around the back edge of the map, all of which kill just as fast as the Warden does. Were it just the Warden alone I could kill him myself with little effort since I was able to deal with two at once and kill the second before my team respawned.

This is probably going to be the first Halo that I won’t be able to beat on Legendary playing solo. It’s either harder than the rest or I’m just getting old

Here you go. Warden Eternal fight done.

Team does minimal. At best.

OP. There are cannons on each sides of the maps and a cannon (I believe a set) where the wardens drop onto where they first begin. Just utilize those and ain for the back bestbyou can. Sliding and boosting to get away helps a ton too. Nothing else you can do really.

Good luck.

Just look at the link I posted and that is the best method for the boss fight.

Cheap AF

… well. -Yoink-. Did 343 deliberately make that the way to pass it? Because I don’t see how you’re supposed to win this otherwise. I’ll just have to restart the level and burn through the little AI -Yoink- so I can pull that off.

May be cheap AF but it is in the game for those who can’t actually finish the fight.

Again, Warden isn’t the issue. It’s the 8 instakill turrets that spawn after you kill the first two Wardens. Warden I can deal with, no trouble. Turrets and Warden at the same time is the problem. Nothing you throw at the turrets will kill even one before Warden either kills you and your team, or flushes you out of cover for even one turret to mow you all down.

Halo 2 is hands down the hardest.

I hope they patch that.

Minimal if you don’t use them right. The AI is limited, but they can make your life a hundred times easier.

With all due respect you’re not just a good player if you can’t beat it. Its mean’t to be tuff. You have to DPS down the first one with the cannons, kill the second one with the remaining cannons. Then on the last guy the easiest way to get rid of the turrets is to move to the side of the map away from the turrets and have your AI team members kill them 1 by 1. Then have them come over and distract the guy so you can shoot him in the back. Make sure while doing this that you actually get on the second level of those pillars where the guns are. If you don’t then the warden can run around and hit you. If you get on the second level then the warden can shoot you with this laser beam but it’s really easy to just run around the pillar. If you need help, send me a message on xbox live and I can try explaining a bit better.

The turrets are not instakill, you just don’t know how to avoid them. Your AI teammates do a -Yoink- load of damage to them.

I didn’t even focus on the turrets, just the Warden.

You mean like the boss fights?

Even on Heroic that fight was absolute -Yoink-.

The turrets will eat up like two whole lightrifle clips just to kill one of them. Pretty sure they can even tank a fully charged incineration cannon shot.

When I first fought the Warden I was excited to see boss battles brought back and seemingly done right for once. But every subsequent encounter with him just got worse and worse on the -Yoink- meter, having to fend off turrets and knights while worrying about him stabbing me. I can’t be bothered to go through all of that again.

Grab scattershot off right side pillar stay behind pillar to avoid cannons sidestep boss melee attack and unload scatter shots into his back.

This is how i beat it solo.

Good luck.

Warden 1: Blitz him with binary rifle and incendiary canon, preferably the centre one
Warden 2: Hardest one as you have to kinda break the 2 wardens apart so use the gravs and stick to the side areanas
Warden 3: Grab a new incendiary canon and get to or close to one of the bottom two pillars before killing the second one. Then just canon him and use the scatter on the pillar to finish him

Wasn’t really fun or a challenge just constant -Yoink-

It seems pretty doable on Legendary up until the turrets which are there to yoink up your day. The key is to simultaneously move and command your Fireteam together. Constantly moving. There’s Incineration cannons literally everywhere. The key is to give them to your teammates. This whole fight you should keep moving in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion hardly ever stopping. (Something useful I learned from that thing called Bungle: Density) Other things to take into consideration is the skip, or juggling extra weapons into the room if you can.

What I did was carry a Binary Rifle and an Incineration Cannon with as much ammo as I could to this fight and used it to easily dispatch the first Warden I could, dedicating all the BiRi fire on him and using whatever from the backup IncinCannon to chip off armor from the other two.

After downing the first one and they’re momentarily confused try to get your Fireteam to grab any IncinCannons you can. There’s one on each side of the room from the entrance, one on each pillar in the middle, and two on the far side. Make sure all of you have one to easily down the next Warden while watching from friendly fire.

Since the teammates have infinite ammo and can spam, they can easily kill the next warden. When he goes, grab Splinter nades from the caches in the middle, they are area of effect leave and forget grenades. Try to position the team back near the entrance behind cover and have them shoot the turrets while moving them if Warden gets too near. While positioned at the far end safer from turret fire you can toss the SplinterNades at them and kill them relatively quick with your Cannon.

After the turrets are down you can easily take out the last Warden, let your team focus fire on him and shoot him in the back. If you’re feeling even more accomplished them try assassinating the yoink and record it on your Xbox just cause.

This strategy isn’t the best, but I assumed the point of this whole fight was for you to take advantage of the team play and commands utilizing everything given to you. So I tried building a strategy off that. Hope this helps, I tried my best to explain what I could. I thought he was an enjoyable boss and hope there should be more encounters like that in the future!
