Thread says it all. It is the only precision weapon that isn’t an uninteresting single-shot piece of boredom. Halo CE’s pistol was unique and exciting to use at the time, then the BR in Halo’s 2and3, but as the series has gone on there has been an influx of precision weapons that are unoriginal and many of them underused lacking any worth in the game.
The DMR is the opittomy of this dreadful slow depressing type of weapon.
Combine this with sprint and the urge kill myself is overwhelming!
In my opinion, Halo 4 should include them all; The (ZB/85%) DMR, The (H2 style) BR and a somewhat nerfed version of CE’s magnum, making it a 4/5 shot instead of 3 shot. The thing that would be hard in that situation is which weapons do you spawn with and which are pickups. In the scenario, my opinion, is that they should switch around between BR/AR starts, DMR/AR starts and Magnum/AR starts, pretty much like it is now but combining the three options in to one game.

DMR was just fine. >.> It could of had a faster rate of fire. Also, my best bet/guess is that there will be a BR in Halo 4, cause Chief is still on a UNSC ship full of weapons that was seen in Halo 3, so it’d make sense to have a BR. But I much rather have the Halo 2 E3 Demo BR over Halo 2’s or Halo 3’s, burst is great and all, but when you’re scoped trying to fire at some one at max range, burst is a wast of ammo, and I much rather have a semi weapon and wast ammo because I’m not having a good day, than was ammo because I’m forced to fire 3 rounds with the chance of hitting some one is 1 out of 3.
I disagree, because i know that halo takes alot of skill, and you can kill with a rifle up close against someone who has an automatic weapon you are skilled.
Just my opinion, have a nice day
The AR should win unless the person with the BR can kill within 5 bursts. I think you could fire 5 rounds and a bit of the next round until the AR won in Halo 3 which made the BR too powerful.

Indeed. If BR user hits all his shots, he should win. Honestly, this whole AR vs BR argument would go away if the AR went away. Were there arguments about SMGs vs BR in halo 2? I don’t know, I didn’t play Halo 2, but I would imagine that most people accept that SMGs lose to BR unless you’re using dualies.

When you say things like that, its hard to take you seriously.
I agree that the BR should be in Halo4 but dont sit there and try to say the DMR isnt a good weapon. If you dont like it, too bad. But dont think that just because you dont like it, that it is automatically a bad weapon.
I would genuinely like to see a successor to the BR, depending if the UNSC are involved in Halo 4. and obviously there have to be BR’s aboard the Forward Unto Dawn but maybe later on we get to experience a successor to the BR. We got to experience the BR’s predecessor in Reach so why not experience something new with Halo 4.

All I’m saying is that all other precision weapons are powerful single-shot variants and the BR is the only exception adding more variety and a different playing style to the way in which the DMR, Pistol’s, Carbine etc. are used.
I don’t dislike the DMR as a weapon, it’s just that it isn’t particularly unique in the gameplay, but as the staple weapon of the game, it’s just a bit boring.

Make sure it has a nice big reticule with plenty of spread on the second and third bullets in the burst.
That way the weapon ends up being a 5-7 shot kill at any reasonble distance due to spread.
Oh lawd. I can see the complaint threads now. And they make me laugh.
Why not just try to combine them. A 4sk 3 round burst rifle when unscoped and 5sk single shot when in scope. while in scope it’d have the accuracy of the 0 bloom DMR, but it’d have slightly more bullet spread when unscoped. Both worlds combined
Well, Halo 4 is the sequel to Halo 3 so I agree that the BR should be in Halo 4.
The DMR should NOT be in Halo 4. I don’t want to see a weapon, that was already destroyed on Reach, randomly pop up after not having it for five games.
Does the BR have to be in Halo 4? No, but in what little we know about the canon so far is that it make sense that it would appear.
Does that mean the DMR has no chance to appear in Halo 4? No, there is always a chance of it appearing in the weapon sandbox.
If the BR returns, does it mean it is going to work exactly as it did in Halo2/3? Absolutely not. Halo has never been about being stuck in the past, and the game always changes and evolves. Some hate that, some like it, everyone has to deal with it.
Now that that is out of the way, as I’ve said several times, I think it is time that the Halo 2 beta BR finally gets some time in the light. Burst fire from the hip, single shot while scoped. It combines the burst people love about the BR, with the ranged precision people love of the DMR without wasting ammo like the old BR.
I’ve thought a lot about this and try to keep nostalgia of the past games out of it as much as I can, something that drives people way too strongly about some ideas in these forums.
