The Bots Have Personalities

Hear me out:

I did some testing in the academy training mode by creating a match with the maximum amount of bot teammates and no bot enemies on the map, and just sat back and watched. I set them all to Spartan and let them do their own thing.

The first thing I noticed was that they are literally always running. They don’t stop or wait for anything, they’re always on the move.

Additionally, they have favorite weapons. Some bots will always pick up certain things, no matter what they have already. I’ve seen bots drop power weapons for pulse carbines, disruptors, Needlers, etc. This is true whether they’re on the wall spawns or if you drop them on the ground near the bots.

Bots will immediately stop what they’re doing and prioritize power ups like camp and overshields. They will cluster around the spawn right before it shows up and try to be the first one to get it, sort of like watching puppies fight over a piece of cheese.

They get confused by map geometry a lot. They’ll miss jumps, be afraid to jump, or straight up run off the map at times. But they’re always moving as I said before, so the sort of scramble while doing all three.

I’ll continue to do more research and report my findings. This is very interesting. I’m pretty sure each bot has an individual personality, and I’m Wondering if it’s consistent Or learned somehow.

Perhaps it would be nice if you researched the ODST bots. What bot (watch their names) prefers what and act on what way? That could be helpfull in social matches where you either encounter them, but probably even more: how you can help protect them.
