The bossfights in Halo Infinite makes me all the more certain in my stance against bossfights

I hate bossfights. 99% of the time they’re some overpowered mega healthbar type villain that kills your too fast and takes way too little damage.
They’re stress inducing and unnecessarily difficult.

I’m here to enjoy a story about Master Chief, not to stress myself out to the point where I have to drop the game afterwards and not play for a few hours as I try to bring down my stresslevels.
I shouldn’t need to subscribe to Meditation 101 just to play a videogame.

This is for videogames in general, let people skip boss battles if they want to.
I don’t care what others think, this isn’t about them, this is about me and the people like me.

You can call me bad all you want, you can tell me to get good, you can tell me to ‘‘stop playing videogames’’ or ‘‘go watch a movie’’, whatever stupid condescending comment you want to throw at me. I won’t budge.

Your experience doesn’t translate to everyone’s experience. Some just want to enjoy the story.

The only boss-type enemies I found I like, are the gold Elite Generals that use active camo when their shields get low/drop. As long as it isn’t overused and isn’t implemented in tiny hallways, I could see dynamic enemy design like that become a staple in Halo.

On the other hand, Brute Chieftains are just lame damage sponges.

There are 4 difficulties. You can play on games journalist difficulty (aka easy) if you really don’t like the challenge.

I sincerely doubt anybody would struggle with the bosses on easy as that is basically the skip button you are talking about

thats probably what the enemies think when they cant kill you

I’m playing on Heroic and I have only had a couple instances of bashing my head against a wall and I was determined to kill them in a specific way.

It’s all about how you go about fighting them, kill weak -Yoink!- as you go and be creative. You can get combos going with grapple shots and don’t forget to use a drop shield or fully upgraded thrusters.

Boss battles have been part of halo since the beginning, it’s just taken a different form now.

I feel the same way most of the boss fights feel like they are there to extend play time. The only meaningful fights are the ones with the monitor and eschram, the “spartan killers” could have been completely cut with 0 detriment to the story as they offer no conflict and just show up to hider progress again adding play time.

I remember in H3 taking on hammer chieftains with just my fist on legendary same with hunters in H4.

You cant even dodge hunters with out having to use thruster, as their melee seems to track the player even when we are already side stepping and their melee doesn’t even have to touch us to do damage.

The plasma pistol overcharge does next to nothing to boss shields tho I’ve heard the plasma carbine is good against them.

Bosses, power seeds, and clicking on consoles. So many repetitive tasks.

Also I hate the two surprise melee bosses in tight areas that spawn in your face. Thanks game.

The hammer guy made me put the game down and go to bed

Odd how you are saying you don’t care about anyone else or their feelings on the matter, yet I’ve seen you in multiple posts crying about selfish players in objective modes.

Git gud.

Maybe I’m missing something here…but why not just play on easy then?

So, there is a way to do that, either play on easy and just buck up or, OR watch someone else play it.

If you’re just there for the story the latter option IS the best option for you. It’s also cheaper to boot.

Aye it takes you right out of the Halo game loop and feels like an arcade game until you defeat the boss… Health bars in Halo just looks wrong aswell.

All the boss fights are fun, except Hammer Brutes.
These guys are just unfun garbage.

Hell, even Hunters are more fun to fight than Hammer Brutes.

Oh here’s a quick tip for all Brutes and Major bosses:
Just use the Needler. The Super Combine chunks them really hard and flinches them, giving time for your Thruster to recharge.

Only ones who aren’t affected by this is the Monitor and Hunters obviously.

Also next time, just play on easy.

Ok first of all people can stop saying “oh play on easy” cause that’s not gonna help anyone on their legendary playthrough is it…

I’ve played through on heroic & the first two bosses on legendary, and while using plasma for shields & power weapons for health does help, yeah the main campaign bosses are damage sponges… But what’s worse is almost all of them will kill you in half a second if they land a hit, and some of them are FAST. The sword guys are alright tbf and i’ve not had trouble with them, but it’s the others that are frustrating.

And that last boss… wtf. I thought the game had just decided I wasn’t allowed to complete it.

Basically while a good boss fight in a game is all about timing attacks and dodging attack patterns, in Halo Infinite with certain (mostly brute + final) bosses instead you spent 90% of the time running away in terror and then turning to yeet a coil or put a lil bit of damage in to prevent their shield regen and chip away at their health. It’s just not a fun experience.

I really think if halo is gonna do boss fights they need to be scripted encounters with specific hazards to overcome, strengths & weaknesses, telegraphed attacks and evolving abilities. Not “oh look this brute has a jetpack, absurdly high shields & health, and will 2 shot you with his hydra”.

To be fair, we’re only saying this cos OP uses the excuse of “I can’t enjoy the story”
Playing on the HARDEST difficulty to enjoy the story, then complaining about it on the forums doesn’t sound like a bright idea.

too right 100% breaks immersion

Ok fair but there are plenty issues with the implementation of some of these boss fights that aren’t solved by reducing the difficulty so I don’t find that super helpful

Yea, read my post, I find Hammer Brutes BS and garbage.
I basically cheesed them with Needler’s ministun on Super Combine and running around.

the best boss fights were against the monitor and were the only fights that felt like they belonged in halo

I’m playing on legendary, the boss fight take me atleast 20+ attempts and I LOVE IT.

The challenge is exciting, trying to outsmart the game and AI and find little tricks and advantages. It reminds me of ‘Gravenind’ on halo 2.

In the past halo boss fights didn’t work well (Tartarus and The Warden) They were boring and uninteresting. Now, they made them work well with the gameplay and I think it’s great
