The bones of infinite are good

This is something I find odd about the community, the bones of halo are still good. I started with halo CE and have been playing ever sense. While yes 4 and 5 where not the halo I was use to they are still halo it still has that feel that gameplay and well is still fun.

The bones are there the gameplay is good, the problem isn’t the games. Yes Infinite has problems, but no more problems then 3 did at launch, remember hte red ring, the fact 3 had some heavy gameplay bugs, MP decync? Or the problems with reach at launch?

Halo has never had smooth launches or reseption in the years a game is active as people see those starts and go nope. Then come back years later forgetting about them because of the fun parts and the fact those problems where fixed.

This alone is why we have the halo cycle. And quite frankly the games are good.

I know this post is pointless I am venting nothing else. I am not excusing things… But I get a feeling infinite will be The halo down the line like 3 was.

And that isn’t just because I have been screwing around with forge in the flight… Damn you can even program NPC’s with it. We can have a halo moba… (that is a joke.)

Halo 3 at the time of its launch was the single highest selling entertainment product. While I totally get you on your critique of the Halo zeitgeist I don’t believe Infinite will ever ascend to the heights of Halo 3, and that’s okay. I just hope it gets off of its feet

I think the sandbox and core design of Infinite’s multiplayer are strong, like you said, but it doesn’t seem as if it will be utilized to its full potential. I hope I’m wrong and only time will tell.

I have no idea what these “good bones” are supposed to be. Still sprinty/slidyboi Halo with Reach bloom, high aim assist, random vehicle spawns, inconsistent weapons spawns, trash vehicles, lack of collision, and the list goes on and that’s all before we get to how utterly barren of content it is and its whole host of issues from custom games to desync, how broken BTB was for so long, oh and now the obscene data usage.

I honestly can’t see “good bones”/ “but the core is good” as anything but weapons grade cope. Absolutely nothing about this game stands out from previous entries beyond the implementation of equipment as limited use map pickups.

Its “good bones” are a mishmash of bones from entirely separate animals.

People seem to confuse “each Halo game has had its issues” with "each game has had its issues so the current games issues can’t be especially bad.

“The Halo cycle” has always been drivel, given that games like Halo 2 or 3 have found critical and commercial success despite their own well documented flaws and valid criticism, the same cannot be said for 343 Halo. A game getting “reevaluated”(mostly by people who already liked it to begin with) in light of the newest title reaching even lower lows does not mean the community as a whole suddenly did a 180 regarding the older title.

Its just convenient to pretend that’s the case to handwave away criticism of the current title as the playerbase simply not appreciating the game in its “prime”.

As far as I’ve been able to tell the “good bones” of Infinite begin and end in looking more like a Halo game with a mediocre(at absolute best) core, bereft of content(which actually is an important part of the core), with obscene microtransactions. Infinite’s only got “potential” in the sense that its easier than starting from scratch in some ways and that’s about it.

Idk with desync baked into even LAN matches it seems like the ‘bones’ are pretty brittle.

Personally, when I say Halo Infinite has, “Good bones.” What I mean is I find the sandbox and fundamental aspects of the movement, shooting, weapons, map design and game mechanics are a good basis to build a larger game around.

There are some things you pointed out,

Which I see as good criticisms, if put a little inarticulately. These are elements which is view as part of the game’s bones as well. I don’t mind the aim assist one way or the other considering the fact that for most of Halo’s lifespan it’s been a console shooter. I play with controller dispite the fact that I usually default to M&KB on all other shooters. As far as trash vehicles go I kind of agree. I just think they need a good health buff and they’d be fine.

For me, the foundation is pretty solid. But it definitely not in the best of spots and could most definitely be better.

Hopefully they’ll learn and figure something out going forward.
