The Boltshot should not be a starting weapon

I actually quite like this gun, it’s like a nerfed Mauler, and I think it can easily have a role in the Halo sandbox.

What I don’t think however, is that a one hit capable weapon should be available from spawn. I think it would work much better as a weapon drop much like the needler.

It encourages campy behaviour and has a clear advantage over every other starting weapon.

Anyone else agree?

We were actually discussing this last night. I wasn’t sure how I felt about spawning with a weapon that can potentially pull a one shot kill.

There’s been many situations where I should have frankly just not survived, but I still manage to kill my opponent because I rounded a corner and used the boltshot to punish him for chasing me.

On the other hand, it’s a one-trick pony. Unlike the magnum, it’s pretty subpar for use at a distance, although it does clean up kills pretty well with the rate of fire it has.

It would have to be powerful up close, as it’s pretty lame from a distance. I say it’s pretty balanced. It’s very rare that I actually get killed by it, but that’s just me.

I just played a few games and in the first I got killed by it a few times so decided to use it myself. So played another game using it, dominated with it. It is far too overpowered to start with. The argument that it sucks at range is invalid because I have the DMR for ranged fighting.
