WHO likes the boltshot or dislikes the boltshot ?
Again, what the heck?
I never see camo users(no pun intended) I never see jetpacks, and I sure as heck never see boltshots.
I have seen BR and Plasma Grenades though.
Hi Master Chief 2N,
I express your dislike, but be more specific.
I dislike the boltshot for many reasons:
- its powered like a small shotgun
- its in custom loadouts
- combined with Promethean vision (though I rarely see it) can be tough to beat
- ruins close quarter combat–too OP
- encourages camping around corners
I think 343 as trying to test out a new weapon. I personally dislike it, but have found it useful in one time or another. I would recommend removing it.
I like the boltshot. It’s the perfect counter to any automatic weapon. Even against shotguns or swords the boltshot has a chance. No shields no problem, just sprint around a corner and if you get rushed, Boltshot.
The boltshot has a steeper learning curve than almost every other gun in the game. You have to be able to predict your opponent. Have you ever seen a pro player use a boltshot in their loadout, it’s insane and paints a clear picture of the skill gap of the gun.
I feel anyone who doesn’t use the boltshot in all their loadouts is putting themselves at a disadvantage. Especially gametypes with radar.
Overpowered guns is a staple of Halo games. From the 3 shot pistol to the Halo 2 BR with double shots, BXR’s etc.

So your encouraging people to run around with a “mini shotgun” in their loadouts. OP weapons are a staple of Halo as you said BUT THEY NEED TO STOP.

the bolt-shot is more or less supposed to be a close range alternative to the magnum…
the problem for me is, If a guys getting alittle close for comfort, the last thing on my mind is switching weapons, and then waiting for an long, annoying charge…
Id be killed before i could get as shot off…
Now, its more or less a camping, weapon, best used when you can anticipate an enemy coming to your position, or when you use promethium vision to see a guy turn the corner…
in other words, OP -Yoink- halo doesn’t need…
i hate the boltshot when noobs use it in swat it is so stupid that they had to add it into swat.

Does it really make that much of a difference? SWAT disables all players’ shields, so most shots fired are aimed at the head and an instant kill, anyway.
BOOM - HEADSHOT.

You might want to edit this into your OP so that it doesn’t get locked. Just a heads up because creating a thread that only states… “I hate the boltshot” is not going anywhere other than the bottom of the forums sealed within a dark, locked cage never to be seen again.
Anyways, I felt like the boltshot was a great idea that was executed poorly. The biggest problem behind it is that it promoted camping which is something that is hated whether you are competitive or casual… it just ruins the experience nomatter what. I just don’t see how they could get a 1sk capable weapon to work as a loadout weapon… I wish there was a way, but I just don’t see it.

I have no problem with the boltshot being like the magnum, just get rid of the charging up.

Agreed

Is it even in SWAT?
yes it is
It really, really needs to not be a 1sk capable weapon anymore. But I’ve put up with it for a year so I guess one more won’t hurt.

Forerunner SWAT, yes. Very helpful for the Commendation.
I, for one, despise the BOLTSHOT, but i have to agree with Oompa on what he said. Its very useful for players who want to finish the commendations.
I understand where you’re coming from. The Boltshot can get annoying at times, but I personally don’t dislike the weapon. I think 343 Industries did a good job with getting rid of annoying weapons, though the Needler still gets me every time.
Anyways, the Boltshot isn’t too bad once you learn how to use it to your advantage. It just bugs me when I get obliterated by those sneaky Boltshot-users who hide around corners.
I hardly ever use the Boltshot( Lol look at its initials… BS) I actually use it when I charge into battle, not running or anything, I fire a bunch of DMR rounds, the guy still has shields, then I either charge up while ‘charging at him’ or use their lesser used purpose. Other than that, I think that its really just the campers that ruin the experience( the hide in a corner only ones, the others are usually legit) I think we might need a system that recognizes camping like that.

The boltshot has a bad reputation because, it is commonly used by camping noobs. The problem isnt the gun itself its the way the average person uses the gun that makes it annoying (Camping).
While having your spree ended by a boltshot camper sucks, you have to realize that the camper is probably costing his team the game because of time he wasted to get the kill.
When you die you`re out of the game for 5 seconds, a boltshot camper is out of the game for minutes at a time.
Boltshot+camping is not effective, it won`t win anybody any games.
Using the boltshot effectively takes skill.
It’s a little annoying getting killed by it. And in the case of using it, I can’t comment since I rarely use it.
