The "Biggest" Update Yet

So June is here and with it comes the Warzone Firefight mode. According to the preview, these things are the highlights of the update:

  • If this is the last update for Halo 5, then the Arena map is most likely The Rig remix. - One of the Warzone maps is just the Darkstar Warzone map cut in half and labeled as an Assault map. - The other Warzone map will probably be new if we are lucky. - New Forge canvas. - A golden banshee… with pointless emblems and new weapon variants - Score system in campaign… finally - Last but not least, Warzone Firefight (Which by the way only lasts for five rounds, has no custom game options like endless, and no solo mode.)So how is this update a big deal?

u have no idea about the last point. that was the beta. it means nothing to what the final version could be like

boss refreshes for warzone pvp. forge updates, gameplay updates, achievements for campaign scoring., and HOPEFULLY more reqs then we saw friday,

i am also hopefully for more arena perm playlist,

so yes it is the largest update, that picture just doesn’t do it any justice

Let’s not gloss over the mountain of new stuff coming into Forge.

It IS the biggest update…
It has:

  • 3 maps - New game mode - Campaign scoring - New weapons & vehiclesWhat?.. Did you want more armor, weapon skins & emblems?

It’s because… oh wait it isn’t! But thats not a big problem for me as I don’t have Time to play atm anyway.

If I learned one thing from 343 then to get your hopes up. If you don’t expect anything you can’t be disappointed.

I really appreciated what they did with Halo 4 (at least with the story) and I like Halo 5’s MP (Even though reach and ce were still waaay better, especially reach [just my opinion]) but Look what they did:

They hyped Halo 4 → It was worth it we got a decent product and had some fun, but apart from the campaign it was an ok Game, nothing more.
They hyped MCC → They weren’t able to keep their promises, the Game was a bug fest and was full of glitches people exploited. Halo 2A part was okay but nothing they really developed themselves. Okay partially it was the Xbox that couldn’t run it properly but mainly it failed because 90% of the product were outsourced to too many studios. So what could we keep? Hype=disappointment
They hyped Halo 5 → Firstly I’d like to mention I’m no competetive gamer and just Play for fun. The campaign was short as hell, the squad Ai we were told would be super smart was in fact as smart as a stone and the storyline was the worst part of all (all These Build up’s like escalation… Dropped). Forge is okay. Theatre is totally glitchy for me. Warzone is okay but gets boring super fast. They counted Forge maps as dev maps. They showed 0% Love for BTB, an absolute Fan favorite and made small arms Fire super effective against vehicles (Seems to be a Problem since H4). They Release classic gamemodes half a year after Launch and still Hype it. Oh and almost all armors Look like a squad of 6 year olds got to Play in the Art department. Lack of Social playlist and too big e-Sports focus (that’s a matter of opinion, to each their own)
So Halo 5 Hype= dissapointment (at least for me, still like to Play some rounds though every once im a while)

not trying to hate on 343 here I’m just saying they shouldn’t Hype something they aren’t capable of delivering. I really appretiate that they Continue Halo, they just Need to listen more to the wider player base and not the one screaming the loudest (and they showed us that they Are able to listen to the Community so they just Need to improve on this subject)

So we could say: Less hype, more Community interaction = Less hate, bigger player base, confident Customers = Nobody is disappointed

But it’s not the last update.

So where is this AV-49 they’ve been hiding?

This is the same thing I’m a little disappointed about (not much though as I convinced myself not to get hyped for something unconfirmed), the rest of the update is great and adds a good amount of stuff to try

Its the biggest. I bet it’s going to be as big as a game.
And best part, you cant accesses any of it without paying $60 for gold.

  • And it’s a remix people are actually interested in due to the presence of the lava river which would make it a huge standout among all the over maps
  • Did you even see Prospect? That was NOT Darkstar
  • New Warzone map will be on Sanghelios
  • Plus a bunch of new forge objects and possibly the introduction of REQ items in forge and maybe even prefabs!
  • They’re not pointless and we finally get a new variant for the Covenant vehicles. The UNSC vehicles have had plenty of different skins, the Phaeton got one, it’s time the Covie vehicles see some love. The Valkyrie emblem is a much loved emblem and will be welcomed by many. There’s the possibility of the plasma repeater and classic beam rifle returning. New weapons is never a bad thing even if I don’t agree with these two particular weapons returning. The golf club will also be returning to forge.
  • Campaign score attack will be very enjoyable and welcomed by speedrunners
  • Last time we saw Warzone Firefight it was a beta and even then it was fun
  • We’re also getting the Warzone Boss Refresh
  • The season one HSC skins will also be coming and plenty of people are excited for thoseThis is the biggest update any Halo game has ever seen buddy.

Is any of this stuff available to play offline? nah probably not. I wouldn’t be at all surprised either if campaign scoring requires gold. I would literally laugh out loud

Some sort of offline Firefight warzone would be nice as would Forge itself but lets not kid ourselves. And yes it worries me too that even campaign scoring could possibly require gold or that you’re online at least. Hopefully not

Indeed, offline firefight war zone would be nice. Or perhaps an private lobby for just friends/SC

Well I however am looking forward to this update and bungie always seem to exeed expectations

Where did you find this info?

My expectations were met.

I imagine they at least wanted to address the largest audience with the last free update. The casual community’s just been left in the dust since launch with no support until Infection 2 months ago. Constant short-lived weekend playlists, dead customs, getting curbstomed every other Warzone match by non-existent party restrictions and item spamming (basically your textbook P2W experiences.)

Like, we all know by now that the casual audience is by far the largest (always has been) which for me makes it hilariously ironic that 343 would make the last free Halo 5 update the only one to actually address the game’s lack of casual scoring modes for people just casually trying out the game.

Yet the game is released completely hollow with full competitive focus, full suite of ranked launch playlists and heavy 4v4 emphasis, when half the competitive community remains adamant they abhor the Spartan Ability gameplay and maps they create, and would prefer nothing of the sort being anywhere near a ranked match. 343 spends the next 7 months trickling down maps for them, hosting pro tournaments and the like. Still not terribly pleased.

This game pleases no one… lol

Even if they had a whole year it wouldn’t come close to the firefight we had in Reach. And that is just one aspect, It took them 7 MONTHS to add a simple campaign score feature that was a available since Halo 3, on launch day, without the need for req packs to “fund” them. Truly pathetic, It’s about time people stopped making excuses for them, we need to stop accepting such mediocrity. Had bungie did the very same thing with Reach they would have been crucified, well to be honest they were crucified regardless, anyone remember the Bungie.net reach forums on launch? Far more toxic than the Halo 5 forums ever were, and now we look back at reach, realising we were taking everything it had to offer for granted. Even simple things like campaign scoring, a wide variety of custom games, unlocking armour of our own choice. Simple things (not gameplay formula related things) we thought would stay consistent with the series, were the parts that were butchered with Halo 5.

I played the firefight beta, it was fun, but your “fun” depended on how many REQs you wanted to burn through. I could some times get away with using one ultra ghost per match, however I’d eventually run out. Why can’t there be any weapon drops? Vehicles at the start of the match, even the basic variants? Ohh…that’s right…because then people won’t buy those $10 req packs to refill your burn cards. Further, it’s not about survival, it’s more about “go find these enemies and kill them”. No more adrenaline rush. I’m hoping they will change it and improve it, but based on past events I highly doubt it will improve as much as it should. If it does, I will more than happily eat my words.

Biggest update, not biggest req dump…
