The Biggest Problem I Have Right Now

All of the things so far look good for some nice fun. However there is one big problem I have right now.

Halo is turning into a class-based shooter. There are many fun games out there that are class-based like Battlefield and Call of Duty. (Heretic!!) So when I feel the need to get a class-based shooter I go pop in Call of Duty or Battlefield. However most of the time I prefer to play Halo, an Arena-Based shooter akin to games like Quake. The reason I like Halo is because it is balanced from the moment you start. (Maybe not Reach as much, though it’s still balanced, just the trueskill doesn’t function as well in the game) This gives each player a chance. It determines the skill of the player, not what equipment they use.

The biggest problem I have is that I fear that Halo 4, being a class-based shooter, won’t have that balanced feel all Halo’s before have had. I realize that these are changing times and 343 wants to appeal to the market, but the market 343 is appealing to is the same market that forgets about the game a few months into release. So what will be left of Halo after that?

Sure we get a classic mode, but what is that, three, four playlists at max? We shouldn’t even need a classic playlist. If the game has changed so much that we need a classic playlist, that isn’t a good sign.

I also agree with the argument that Halo needs to evolve. Keep the perfectly balanced gameplay, but change it up a bit. Maybe making AA’s an evolution of equipment? When fans say they wanted Halo to change, they didn’t mean change it into a class-based game. It’s completely different now.

I just want to add that 343i is doing a great job, I may not like the way they’re going with this, but it takes a whole lot to make a game, and I respect them for that. Overall I hope the game is great (It most likely will be) and I know I’ll have fun with it, I mean come on, it’s Halo!

I don’t mind Halo being a class-based shooter. Love Halo and love classes as well. Probably will love them put together. However, I know that there are many others who won’t. Classes make you more unique as a player to the game, it’s fun to be set different from others.

Did we REALLY need ANOTHER THREAD about this?!

From the halo bulletin: “They enhance a small part of the sandbox (meaning good players will still be good, and not good players will still be not good).” (talking about specializations.) They aren’t a huge change. They are only for players with max rank. Get over it.

> Did we REALLY need ANOTHER THREAD about this?!

at least this one isn’t complaining about this action, much rather stating his concern in a polite way

its not even class based!!! jesus!! are you mental or something?? where has it said its class based, there are small things you can implement in those mods but they do not make you a class, you can mix and match everything in the whole game and play however you want that is the whole point of halo is to play how you want to play

343i is trying their hardest to balance all aspects of the game. While there is a lot of room for error, I trust them for now.

Ok, do the majority of Halo players not understand what CLASS-based multiplayer means?

I wouldnt call it “Classes”…Its more like giving you a larger sandbox experience.

Like using myself for an example.

I absolutely…Love…Sniping…
Long range killing and what not.

Now, what 343 has done, is help accommodate that craving i have with giving me choices in how I choose to play.

What? The magnum in CE was overpowered. The BR in Halo 2 and 3 was overpowered. The DMR in Reach was overpowered. Halo 4’s weapon sandbox has been pretty balanced to my experience.

But I will give you credit for not mindlessly attacking 343 for not making halo 3.5

It’s not like you can spawn with Snipers and RPGs like in real Class-based-shooters. I always hear people complain that they don’t want to start with an AR and always choose Slayer BRs/DMRs. Now you can start with your favourite primary weapon wich are all balanced! And you really have to work for the specializations because it will take months to get them. They’re also not as gamebreaking as things like, lets say, second chance (or whatever).

It’s not turning into a class based shooter. You don’t have to play Infinity Slayer. Nobody is forcing to to. If you really have a problem with this, just don’t play IS. Not that hard, just click a few buttons and you’re on Classic Slayer, or whatever playlist pleases you.

It’s not class based though. Class based is like TF2 or Battlefield, where a certain class can only use those certain guns and equipment. Its still the arena shooter it was, with some simple additions.

The FPS gaming community are the divide between classic and infinity? 343i merely reflect this in the gaming society, not the other way around.

Playlists and customisations are cornerstone Halo, why don’t posters ever get that?

not everything is as black and white as you make it out to be.
it’s not either Arena shooter or class based shooter, there’s a gray area.
Call of Duty is in that gray area. while Halo 4 is in the gray area between Arena and the gray area.

It’s funny, cause you know 99.9% of the whiners are going to buy the game. And either love it, or…rant and rave how 343 ruined Halo cause its not like Halo 2 or 3, plus saying stuff like “I cant believe i payed 60 bucks for this!” Watch. It will happen.

Really? Your going to attack me over my opinion of what I said, even after I said it politely? I think your the mental one here.

Okay, I realize that I made a mistake in defining it as a class-based shooter, that was my bad. I thank the users who said this in a polite manner, but the rest of you? Do you really have to attack me because of an opinion I had that differs from yours? I’m not a complainer, I was just voicing my concern over a few things in the game. Apparently if you say one bad thing a whole group of you come and attack the person who said it, regardless of the way they put it.

Adapt and Overcome, Play Classic, or go play the other 7 Halo Games.

I’m willing to try Halo 4 out. But right now, if you asked me to describe what Halo 4 will be like, in all honesty. I can only say “it’s like Call of Duty, but a bit spacey”.
