You don’t need outlines to tell friend from foe. Your friendlies have icons over their heads. We can have whatever armor colors we like and not need the glowup.
I’d bet money this was a major reason why it was implemented. More accessibility. But the skill gap halo has always had is still there so new comers will be deterred anyways.
It should be removed or toned down. Many people here and in the Halo community would agree, but we aren’t their target audience anymore I guess?
Maybe if the veterans were even part of the focus we wouldn’t have this atrocious system where all the customization is behind a paywall.
Exactly, that’s how AAA gaming is right now, pandering to the lowest denominator.
I thought the whole idea was to make the enemy obvious?
In the old days we had red vs blue on maps that were predominately green and grey. You stuck out like a sore thumb. And it was good.
Then graphics improved. And maps became busier. Which we like a lot - but it’s hard to see people at a distance - just like in real life. Especially if their colours are similar to the background and they aren’t moving.
So we need the outline to make it easier.
You can still hide / camp. You just have to think about sight lines and stay out of them. What you can’t do is put armour on the same colour as the background and try to disappear (flashbacks to players wearing white on Snowbound).
I got mixed feelings about this. When they announced it I was sure it was a mistake, then i played the flight and feel “kind of natural”., but i prefered the original colors. Then i went back to MCC and realize that some teams got advantage over others in games like SWAT, specially in H2A (which is a terrible multiplayer btw), so i kinf of understand it, but I dont know how they are gonna make it work in games like SWAT
I think that having players glowing like christmas trees isn’t a good idea, they could adjust player visibility like they do on some games (CS:GO I think), but I don’t like the fact that you can see an elbow from a player far behind a wall because of the shiny red silhouette. I think it’s nice to play sneaky sometimes, especially in objective modes.
What a hot take, it’s almost as if being a space marine hundreds of years in the future would be insane to have an IFF system.
or the fact that the highlight system allows people to have customizations, I’m willing to bet you don’t play MilSim games and would be hard pressed to tell RUS from USA in Squad.
Additionally, it also prevents people from wedging into cheeky spots and just cheesing on people. Which if you’re any good, having people hone in on you isn’t a problem nor does being highlighted when you fight magically make bullets hit you either
I agree I think that it should go back to the classic red versus blue style rather than the enemy team glowing bright red because it’s not a great system I have been spawn killed by players multiple times on the bigger maps because they just sit and wait for a bright red dot to pop up in the distance and they snipe you immediately. And secondly I don’t care about what my character’s color is in the middle of a big team Battle the only time that I want to see my characters color is if I’m in a custom match or playing with friends in a free-for-all or something like that or if they ever add firefight to the game which I really hope they do because I’d love for firefight to make a return it’s sad that only Halo 3 ODST and Halo reach have firefight there really need to be more variety to it and I know Halo 5 has war zone firefight but it doesn’t have the same feel it feels more repetitive because it relies solely on weaponized vehicles and not just skill.
I disagree with you and the IFF system you’re talking about is the motion tracker that’s what it’s for that’s why friendly players show up as a blue dot while enemy players show up as a red dot. And having color customization show up in game during a big team Battle isn’t necessary personally I enjoy the aesthetic of the original games where it was red versus blue and you still have armor cosmetics however with that all being locked behind a paywall not very many players are going to be having access to them right away.
I agree with you I think they need to go back to the RvB style as it’s still an enjoyable experience regardless of if you can see your Spartans colors or not the Spartan colors were mostly in Halo reach for The campaign and for game modes like firefight or free for all and you didn’t really hear anybody complaining that they were red or blue in team Slayer before. And with the cosmetic items they need to be lower price they’re way too highly priced they’re doing the same thing that destiny 2 has done where they’re making each cosmetic item like $15 or more to get and it’s ridiculous making a cosmetic item $1.99 is a fair price and making it to where you can buy them in a bundle pack for $15 is reasonable but making it to where one cosmetic item is $10 or more is ridiculous now the battle pass is an okay price $10 is fair for the battle pass however you need to get more experience for completing matches as well as even completing custom matches cuz I think it’s a little unfair that you don’t get points for that it should give you some experience points for a custom match but it should be minimal in comparison to that of a multiplayer match it’s something Halo reach used to do on the 360 where if you completed a firefight match it would give you some experience but it would not be nearly as much as a normal multiplayer match but for some reason they removed that system from the game a bit after it was released and only matchmaking gave you experience.
We’re not talking about possible lore explanation because if we talked only about the technology that’s available in the Halo world the game wouldn’t be like that, so I don’t think it justify changing gameplay.
And campers are in every game but this ain’t a milsim or even cod like, its meat to be an arena shooter, you can’t camp like you would in these games. I would prefer these highlights to stay in Overwatch and Valorant and not coming in every game.
It was exactly why it was set up how it is. Look at Fortnite, CoD, and now Destiny, etc… The shops that are placed in games are dictating the directing of how games are being created, and the ones that keep throwing money at these companies don’t even bother to think about the harm that it is actually causing.
That includes streamers that advertise games that don’t help one bit playing as they are Vanna White to help the companies sell cosmetics…
Destiny 2 is a prime example of a game that Halo infinite should not try to be like cosmetic items can be in the game that’s fine however they do not need to be as expensive as they are and you should be able to earn some of those cosmetic items from gameplay alone not by purchasing them if it’s going to be purchasable it needs to be a reasonable price not $10 for a single piece of armor if it’s going to be $10 it needs to be a collection of armors like a set of five for $10 would be acceptable but if it’s a visor color or an emblem or a weapon skin it should only be around $1.99 or $0.99 and maybe for the more exotic items like Jorge’s armor it could be $2.99 or something n btw why hasn’t the Jorge armor kit been fixed yet the left shoulder plate has no textures or colors.
I’m super happy it wasn’t a clip of me in MCC driving us off a cliff or something.
No game should be like how Bungie has Destiny 2 set up. In D1 the shop was not a priority, the original Bungie key devs were at least trying to make a game considering what actually took place. The only time the shop was a focal point in Destiny one was with the events, it wasn’t pushed in our face as bad as it is now in D2, and the events were only once a year. What 343 is doing is taking this way beyond what shops were actually intended for when creating games.
There are no other words for what they are doing and that is being (really greedy) knowing the cost for creating the items to pay their employees, etc… they will have made triple the amount if not more at the end of the year. Also, that not including any events they will cash in on, Firefight if and when that is added they will cash in on, etc… 343 will be making bank off of this game.
Just had to add this that some seem to forget. How many other shops do they have going in their other games?
Me and my homies playing said the exact same thing…
Might as well say hey I’m over here sniping lol
The red highlighting has to go for enemies 343.
Highlighting your teammates in blue sure. But not the enemies…
Biggest mistake is no region lock 200 plus ping is -Yoink!-
I agree. Stealth is a core part of halo’s gameplay. This new mechanic removes it. keep all highlighting to teammates. Remove enemy highlighting. It worked for many other games before this. No one looks good with that messy-looking red coat anyways. It’s like I’m not even shooting spartans. I’m shooting red blurs.
