The biggest mistake I've ever seen in Halo multiplayer

No it doesn’t? Have you even played the game? This is still a thing

Wait What? How did you come to that conclusion?

oh i must have replied to the wrong comment on this one. I checked the thread and saw so many replies. I’ll delete it to remove confusion

No dramas dude haha I was confused

To be fair, it’s not like distant enemies were difficult to spot back in the RvB days.

We don’t need outlines to know people are enemies. All we need are the presence of absence of their names. Think of Destiny, or any other game with no outlines and no RvB system. It’s pretty easy to tell who is friend and foe.

Outlines are stupid.

So is “wanting to be a special unique Spartan” it’s cosmetic. Who cares, no one gives a -Yoink!- about flashy armor pieces someone paid for. It’s sad actually.

Maybe if you had to earn them through challenges or something it would come with a bit of respect, but “reeee I want to see my special skin I paid $20 for” is a -Yoink!- reason to change the RVB system.

As I said, all they should have done, was keep RVB but add a colour blind feature or a colour swap feature, so on your screen if could be, yellow and green, or blue and yellow.

This whole “everyone needs to express their own individuality” is so lame, you see it for what? 3 seconds?

I mean you can still camp, you just have to relocate more often

Which is good

I find it too hard to recognise friend or foe up close, and too easy to spot people far away.
The reason would be selling coatings I guess.

Red vs Blue was superior. The glowing outline takes away from what is an extremely good looking game and I would prefer to have a visual difference bound the enemy’s actual appearance than having a UI element. Just like what we have seen with the battlepass, this decision was made to the game less enjoyable for profit

The outline system can work, but as it is, it doesn’t adjust to the context of maps and positioning.

If you’re far away, another player can see you like a glowing blob. If it’s dark where you are, the giant blob gives you away.

It needs to change based on the environment and where you are in relation to another player. Otherwise I’m fine with it.

Seriously, right? The number of major compromises they have made in this game, purely in the name of selling something we normally got for free, is sickening.

Can we just have an option that players can select traditional red vs blue in the settings. That would allow folks like me with bad eyes after various eye surgeries to actually enjoy the game like I have with previous halos??

I don’t know if they did this in H5 or not because I never played it (would play it on PC 343i!), but I’m over the moon that I don’t have to start every match saying to myself:

Kill blue

Kill blue

Kill blue

Kill blue

Kill blue

Yep. That’s what live service and free to play gets you.

This. I approve of this solution, if they’re unwilling to go back to traditional red and blue colored armor.

I would like the Glow on Enemies Only! Or go back to traditional red and blue colored armor!

It’s not just for accessibility. If accessibility was the only reason, they would just keep solid colors and let you change the solid color. Actually solid colors are easier to see than glowing colors if we want to be accessible.

It’s for customization monetization and the accessibility part is a feel good add on to mask it.

This addition strikes me as quite casual. The outlines are really quite ridiculous. The only outlines there should be are ones around your teammates. Anyone you see without an outline regardless of color is quite obviously an enemy. Also, when aiming directly at an enemy their gamertag can light up red over them as in previous titles.

I’ve noticed it’s really, really hard to see enemy gamertags compared to the MCC. That’s bad for when I make friends with players on the other team…

This Halo if you can call it that needs some major adjustments.

It feels like it was set up for the kids that go, Ooh! Look at that shiny thing
