The beta looked so much better...

Greetings. Recently I have been looking back on beta gameplay of halo 5 and man does it look great. The lighting is much more realistic, the armor looks higher res, certain weapon animations and models are better, etc.

While I know that it is strange to make such a post nearly one year after the initial launch, the difference has just recently become apparent to me. While I am sure people will have different opinions on the matter, in my own opinion, the final build of the game simply doesn’t compare to the beta.

So, this leaves the question of why it changed so drastically. In the beta lighting was more realistic, which was possibly changed due to how it impacted gameplay, however, that’s the only change that we can come to a fairly sound conclusion for. Things other than the lighting also changed with the final release of the game, such as actual textures and certain animations. For example, if you watch beta gameplay you can see that the wrist sections of the armor appears to be the same or similar resolution to the actual hands, whereas in the final game the resolution of the armor is significantly decreased, making it look strange as the hands still appear to have the same resolution. While there is no truly clear reason for these changes, we can assume that it has something to do with maintaining a constant 60 fps along with a maintainable 1080p resolution (Given what other sacrifices had to be made to meet these standards, cough cough, splitscreen, cough cough) . While I am not completely sure of the resolution and framerate of the beta, I can assume that it probably wasn’t a constant 60fps and am almost certain that it wasn’t at 1080p, it still looked much better.

Also, to be clear I have no issue and actually prefer 60 fps over 30, but given what had to be done away with its not worth it.

What brothers me more are the changed U.I and otehr things like it.
The final game seams to have a big problem in its own coding.

example: Halo is not capable of registrating every input the controllers are giving. This bug is easy trigerable by spaming “weapon switch” and try to truster and or granade throgh. This is posible in multiplayer(online), but also in the campain(offline)
maybe anoter reason why splitscreen wasnt possible within the game. 2 controller inputs would maybe to much for the game.

*sidenote: Itried this with diffrent games (halo MCC, Reach(xbox one) diffrent games AC etc.) In no other games was an input lost detected.

2 things come to mind: 1: it’s a beta. Expect changes. 2: I believe the beta was 720p, making it easier to allocate resources elsewhere.

That’s all I got for you lol

my biggest issue is just the change from the metallic armour to the boom co. plastic looking armour. I actually hate the colour pallet in the final build but as much as I liked the lighting it must have hurt the frame rate.

The beta is proned to changed since its not the final game. So of course somethings might stay, somethings might change, all things may change, or all things may stay the same.

Literally ever halo game that had a beta had a very different final version.

Also every game has problems no developer will be able to find and or fix them all.

i dont play the beta, so the final game its so fine for me

Let’s not revive 2 year old topics, thanks
