Yes I know I’m making a post about H5:G in the Halo: MCC thread. But I’m putting this post here as the H5:G beta is only for those who bought Halo: MCC, now moving on. I think it would be best we all expect the beta to launch with server issues. Not for the same reasons as MCC. I think it will have issues as so many people will be hitting on it all at once. Just so everybody knows Josh Holmes did announce when the beta will go live. I’ll list the times for multiple time zones in North America. Sorry to everyone everywhere else, but I’m not getting good results on Google for timezones in Australia, Europe, or anywhere else as I just learned that different places use different time indicators then GMT.
- 7:00am HT (-10 GMT)- 8:00am AT (-9 GMT)- 9:00am PT (-8 GMT)- 10:00am MT (-7 GMT)- 11:00am CT (-6 GMT)- 12:00pm ET (-5 GMT)- 1:00pm AtT (-4 GMT)
I think too many people will hit this beta at a single time. So don’t be surprised if the servers are bad for the first 1-3 days. There is a day 1 patch that may help, but use caution. I’m excited for this beta, I played the pre-beta and had a great time. But the first day was bad for connection. I just want to give everybody a heads up as this seems like it will be an issue.
Please in the comments express your ideas and thoughts regarding whether or not the servers will be good to go come the 29th of December.
Also please be respectful. No complaining, cursing, or insulting to any Users/343i/Microsoft. You will be reported. Please be kind to others. Thank you.
Well, it’s a beta, so everyone should expect it to behave as such.
Its not like it’s going to behave like a $60 launch game. It will have a few issues.

Microsoft probably learned from years of game launches and continually increased their server capacities, but sometimes enough still isn’t enough. A time-separated launch is probably the best thing Microsoft can do (based on IP-location or based on the time of the store it was downloaded from). A patch is pretty useless if the game can’t connect due to high demand, but if Halo 5 makes proper use of Azure (servers can be pulled from other games to assist on the fly) we shouldn’t expect too much trouble.
The first day of the early-access beta was fine for me somehow, the servers were hard to connect to on second and especially third day (unavailable servers everywhere). I don’t really care for the first week (AR starts…) so there’s atleast one spot more for other players ; )

Depends on which $60 game you are talking about.
will they send a code to download the new beta or it will be the same we ve downloaded as dashboard previewers?

They haven’t said. I would expect it to be from MCC itself. That H5:G Beta page thats been in extras is what I think you’ll have to go to. But I think 343i will have a blog post about it in the next few days.
Pre-release matchmaking seems to work well at the moment. But if it doesn’t work, that’s what the beta’s for.
