So, I’ve seen quite a lot of good, popular ideas on the forums, but their threads tend to die after a week or so. So I’ve decided to make a thread including my favorites, and a few of my own, and you can keep it on top by posting the best ideas you’ve seen or original new ones of your own, as well as pointing out flaws and ways to improve the ideas. The ones I think are best are in italics.

FLARES
A new piece of equipment or a grenade, you use it to create smoke in your team’s color. This allows you to call for backup, however enemies will know where to find you. It also allows you to signal to near allied drivers that you want a ride in their vehicle.
FORERUNNER PLAYER MODELS
In Halo 3, you could choose an Elite. Same in Halo: Reach. However, Halo 4 might not have Elites, so Forerunners could be added. They should be harder to kill, with better shields, but should be taller and unable to take cover in as many spots as Spartans.
NEW DMR
It doesn’t need to be a DMR, but somebody had an idea of a single shot 4x scope weapon, that doesn’t kick you out of your scope when hit. However, it has large bloom when moving, making short range fighting with it very hard. It was suggested as a DMR, but could be a new Forerunner weapon.
SKULL FINDING MIX
This is one of my own ideas. Some people want to try to find skulls, but some want to start with them. So I thought up a new system. You would get Bronze (Silver) and Gold Skulls free, but have to find Silver (better than Bronze) and Platinum (better than Gold).
MP ARMOR SKULL
Following up on the previous idea, a new Campaign only Silver skull that lets you use your MP Armor in the Campaign. The guy who suggested this wanted it to be one to find, that’s why it’s Silver, not Bronze. More in the link.
<em>AI SWAP SKULL</em>
Another Skull Idea, this one would be Silver, due to it’s epic. Someone suggested this and linked this video. If you didn’t watch it, it swaps the AI so you fight against your normal allies alongside your normal enemies. More in the link.
DYNAMIC WEATHER
An Idea that’s cropped up a few times, having rain, storms and sandstorms could be very interesting, as long as they don’t make the gameplay too random, just, say, decrease view distance or speed up rockets and grenades.
<em>COMPLETE DARKNESS FX</em>
Pointed out by it’s maker in this thread, it’s basically a new FX that blocks out ALL natural light. You can only see with lights and flashlights, and the lights can be controlled by levers. I would add a slider to it, alowing you to make it, say, 90% darker.
<em>MIST</em>
Pointed out and made by the same person as above. Basically a mist on Infection maps. This has lots of room for expansion - different colors, poisonous mist patches, etc. Poisonous mist could be put in common camp spots (like the tunnel on Sword Base) to discourage camping.
FLOOD INFECTION
Same dude as above. Zombies are replaced with Flood who can see in the dark, and there is a mixture of light spots and dark spots, making moving around more dangerous, but staying near a light source is more dangerous too.
EVIL MAPS
Same guy AGAIN. This time he suggested the sky in infection being red and full of lightning, and scary music playing in the background. This could also be a Forge FX.
BUTTON MAPPING
Pointed out in this thread, basically choosing EVERY button’s effect and saving your own control schemes.
CORTANA ON HUD
A simple idea suggested by someone on the forums. Basically, Cortana appears on your HUD when she’s speaking. Just a basic bit of visual feedback.
VULTURES
An idea of mine. There should be levels where you can use the Vulture from Halo Wars. It should have you fighting against Scarab equivalents, Banshee equivalents, Super Sentinels and new mini-boss vehicles, as well as ‘bombing’ infantry forces. NOT available in non-special scenarios.
<em>BOTS</em>
This one has popped up a few times now. If you don’t have Live, want Practice, or want to play on your own maps/game modes, Bots are very useful. You should be able to choose their skill and set what they aim for (Kills, K/D, Objective/Random) and how many there is.
WEAPON CUSTOMIZATION
This is a brilliant idea for Forge, Firefight and Custom Games, that lets you change the stats of each weapon like you do the player’s speed, etc. and change Clip Size, Scopes, Projectiles, etc. It would also allow 343 to nerf/buff weapons really easily.
<em>FORGE ‘CUTTER’</em>
An idea I found on the forums that said you should be able to create holes in things, like holes in walls and ‘murder holes’. I think this should be the monitor’s ‘attack’, and be able to be toggled on and off if you want to be able to use RT for zooming around.
<em>FORGE LINKING</em>
Same dude as above. he suggested being able to lock pieces together. This would let you put extra armor on vehicles, attach chainguns to Mongeese, makeshift seats to Hornets, even things like having Man Cannons on vehicles. The possibilities are infinite.
COPY AND PASTE
Same dude as above brought this up, but’s it’s an ancient idea. Copying and Pasting items in Forge, keeping the angle, respawn time, color, and all the other edits you made through menus. This would have NO negative effects, and be very useful.
