The Best FPS of all Time

343i’s approach should not be to make a great Halo game. Their approach should be to make the greatest shooter to date. With that in mind, I make this statement:

Halo 5 does not feel like Halo. It doesn’t feel like CoD either. It feels like something brand new. It feels like a fresh new shooter built from the ground up, free from the staleness that the FPS genre has provided for the last 5-6 years. I haven’t had this much fun playing an FPS for a long time. For that reason, I predict that Halo 5 will be one of the greatest FPS of all time. I rank each Halo multiplayer as follows:
Halo CE: 8
Halo 2: 9.5
Halo 3: 10
Halo Reach: 7.4
Halo 4: 5
Halo 5 Beta: 9.7

If you play Halo 5 with the mindset of “greatest FPS of all time”, and not, “how does this compare to the past” you’ll be able to see past your archaic Halo 2/3 blinders and see into the future of gaming.

It feels much closer to Halo when it is BR starts. It keeps that classic formula and builds upon it. AR starts combined with all the additions and changes feels nothing like Halo.

I think Halo 5 can be great as well.

they just need to change the name.

I don’t know if it will be the “greatest FPS of all time” (that’s DOOM), but yes, hoping a new AAA title released in 2015 is going to play like a decade-old game is a massive -Yoinking!- problem. If that’s your definition of what Halo “feels” like save your money and stop buying new games, period.

That’s weird, because I would reverse what you said.

That’s because Halo has consistently had precision starts and automatic starts both since the beginning of time. So you’re both right, or since this is the internet, you’re both wrong.

Is half life 2

You must have started with Halo 2 at launch. Forgivable.
Halo’s gameplay has always centered around that mid range weapon that allows good players to compete in any situation while giving the other weapons in the game a distinct advantage when used in the correct situation.

I’ll also add that I give CoD modern Warfare a 9 and Modern Warfare 2 a 9.8

comepletely agree, Halo 5 best fps ever, read my Halo 5 beta feedback guys! check this link

(I still feel it like Halo.)

me too, love AR starts

I will miss the beta a lot, though these last few days bore me thoroughly. I have never cared for slayer, it feels too repetitive. I was madly in love with stronghold. The trouble with making Halo games feel new and stay true to the past is the fact everyone likes different parts of the gameplay. I love H5’s fast pace and all the changes it seems to be making. I will be preordering shortly.

That’s their goal, to make the best FPS of all time, so far.

I started on day 1 Halo CE. Auto starts are just more fun.

Tired of having to cater to you guys and having my junk up the BR’s stock like all of you.

That makes no sense considering halo1 and2 launched with automatic+pistol starts. BR starts was a departure from classic halo and it dramatically changed the way matches are played.

br starts don’t give the other weapons on the map a situational advantage, they make them useless…

a good player shouldn’t need to spawn with a BR in order to overcome a sticky situation. They should be able to use the tools at their disposal to overcome the disadvantage that comes with dying and starting with AR/pistol . Also, their good teammates should make sure that they have access to better weapons when they respawn.

Instead of replying with the same information that you will refuse to accept I’ll just tell you to look up the countless information given by others that shows that every single thing you have said is 100% wrong.

I like a lot of what I have seen during the Beta. But I wish these final days they had tried a DMR start, sense DMR is less forgiving then BR, but still fulfills that med-long range role. I am not a fan of the AR Pistol start at all, and I refuse to play if this is going to be the standard weapon start.

The number one thing that needs fixing however is the fundamental aim-and-shoot core. The aim assist in this game is atrocious. When your reticle gets near someone, it gets heavy, sluggish, and often feels completely stuck. Its the antithesis of aim assist, the game actually rejects player input from moving the reticle. To compensate, the hitboxes have been made absurdly large and when combined with bullet magnetism, the process of aiming has become simply a joke. The core fundamental process of aiming and shooing is the FPS backbone of game play, and Halo 5 is neither engaging or rewarding with that regard. Forget about all the new bells and whistles that are in this game, without a solid FPS core, the game will fail.

Overall, the movement mechanics are enjoyable. But I would prefer a 20% base speed increase and then have thrusters & sprint toned down. But those are moot points, the game has a poorly done core.
