Who else has been through the topics on Halo Waypoint with the soul purpose just to see how friendly the Halo community is to each other? I mean, this has got to be the best comminity in the gaming industry, not once have I ever seen a Flamewar happen or anyone take offense to something someone else has said, we’re a really tightly-packed civilisation…The Haloverse!!!
I like the community as well but in my opinion the Halo community can be pretty nasty. On Halo Waypoint, they kinda censor that kind of stuff; they clearly state that flamewars and stuff akin to that is not allowed, so you don’t get to see that side much. But if you were on a forum that was not moderated you’d see the toxicity more often. But I don’t think the case is that bad compared to like CoD or any other community for that matter. But trust me, there are plenty of jerks in this community.
Also can I assume that you are fairly new to the Halo community?

Any forum that does not moderate flaming will be toxic. Halo has always been a fairly well enforced community even with Bungie’s old forums.
I wouldn’t say Halo is the nicest community. There are plenty of flamers and trolls. Thank the mods for keeping it clean around here.
Moderators definitely are good at keeping it clean (compared to the new Bungie.net forums filled with Destiny).
The one time I got a warning on this site was for saying ‘r3t@rded’ about some stupid comment. Got a warning from snickerdoodle, asked why, actually got a response stating why I got the warning, said thanks and some nice remarks were made, the end. I felt like the person monitoring the community was actually apart of the community.
Meanwhile in the new Bungie.net forums… you get a warning message that doesn’t tell you what mod even did it, you can’t see what you did wrong let alone ask expecting a response, and the ‘warnings’ result in bans varying from 24 hours to one week which you can’t even tell the extent of. Moderation is also not as high there.
Halo Waypoint does have its downs. I can ask a question and it gets flooded away by other threads complaining about some issue other threads are complaining about, and so far the amount of useful info here isn’t that much. If I look up something on Google for Halo 5, beta info gets spammed across the whole front page. When I look here, I can’t find what I’m looking for without digging around. A couple days ago I just started typing ‘Reddit’ after every query I had about Halo 5. Works helluva lot more effectively.

You make some excellent points, granted we aren’t the friendliest community, but we are better than Minecraft and Battlefield’s communities…
And not really, I’ve been apart of the community for quite some time…Still, I see where you’re coming from with that assumption

I think the moderators are actually fellow Haloians

Yea, they actually do stuff that involves the community too.
Tell that to Bungie.net. The mods are just supreme overlords and their rule will not be questioned. I’ve seen people with personal opinions get bans before.
Edit: My gt is ThatAmazingIdea. I have a different email I do stuff with (which is Hotmail) and I guess it decided to auto-log me in as that. UsefulBrute is the randomly generated GT… haha it actually fits in…
This good community is in a civil war right now atm in the forums. every post a battle, every word a casualty… It’s a shame to see a community driven to this.
