so at first i was all for the Battle Rifle when it came to headshot weapons like the DMR, light Rifle ,Carbine but now im starting to lose faith in the Br it seems every other headshot weapon is better then the Br all around can anyone tell me how the Br can still be a useful headshot weapon when is comes to fighting the Dmr or Carbine or light rifle in game???
It’ll be great from medium/shorter distances.
Apparently it’s the worst out the four utility rifles. Of course those saying this haven’t played the game yet or just biased towards the DMR if they did.
If you are at closer ranges (Medium range is the BRs niche) and skill, you can out slay someone using the Car/DMR. You have to consider that the Carbine shooters faster and has more shots but is weaker against shields as well.
The DMR has 14 shots with minimal bloom and rests at a 5 shot kill. Best use at longer distances while not being as good at closer ranges. Can beat BRs at it’s niche and if the player is skilled enough, at closer ranges as well (the ROF is solid on the DMR).
The Light Rifle will most likely be a tough one to deal with. Scoped in it’s a regular 4 Shot Kill (5 shot out of it), making this Rifle has the fastest kill times and i haven’t noticed any significant bloom or recoil.
The BR will have a predictable spread that climbs upwards which will affect it’s performance at longer ranges. The BR will be more useful on smaller to medium based maps but at longer ranges, it will leave you wanting more. At any rate, this gun will kill in 5 shots with a pretty fast rate of fire, which could render the 5 shot kill irrelevant.
The same thing happened to me too. But, Iv’e watched a ton of halo 4 footage and the only reason the BR is better in some ways is if the guys shield are almost down. The reason for this is because you can kill a guy with just one shot if his shields almost down, but that means its only good as a team weapon. The DMR looks like the best weapon all around, and that makes me really mad because they should just make the BR a 4sk weapon and then it would be balanced. And the light rifle, ugh, that stupid thing when zoomed in is going to be the cheap noobs weapon of choice because they can just sit back and relax. Oh, and one more thing is to get a 5sk with the BR you have to get every little mini bullet into the guy.
At this point, the only reason I’d use the BR is to have a precision weapon in my first game. Until I get facts to prove it otherwise: the DMR > Carbine > BR.
What’s this? The game hasn’t been released with all the weapons balanced yet? You don’t say…
> What’s this? The game hasn’t been released with all the weapons balanced yet? You don’t say…
Obiviously were just comparing things as of now, duh.
Felt fine back during RTX. The other precision weapons were nerfed a bit though. The DMR can longer kill 3 players without reloading, the Carbine has a larger reticule, and the LR…not sure about that one. It does more damage when scoped, but the spread of the hip-fire makes it weaker up close.

I’ve done it so many times that I’ve given up because it’s pointless. The BR has the worst kill time, done.

Light Rifle > everything. As much as I love the Carbine, the Light Rifle seems like it’s gonna be my weapon of choice because of its multiple fire modes.

The BR is specifically tailored towards close/mid-range fighting. This includes elements beyond just how many shots it takes to kill or rate-of-fire; it’s been made specifically to fit short/mid-range.
DMR is specifically tailored towards long-range. At short range, it’s more difficult to handle, and it’s single-shot suffers compared to BR’s burst; miss one shot with the DMR, and you could very well lose the fight.
Lightrifle is a combination of the two: it is good for both close- and long-range, but not as good as the BR and DMR in their respective ranges.
And I don’t know about the Covie Carbine. I assumed it’s a good mid-range weapon.
Like I’ve said before, people who played the game found that BR dominates at close-range, while DMR does so long-range. This includes people who went in thinking “BR is the worst of the primary precisions, I’ll stick with DMR and Carbine and such”, but found that they were wasted every time against BR wielders.

In it’s current iteration it’s worse than the BR un scoped. Scoped, It’s OP but obviously you’ll get shot, and also we don’t know how the weapons balance in the final game so why would you chose early because of a kill time that will obviously change?

People that played the game also were not as skilled in it as the 343 players, and whenever I see them play they use the DMR for a starting weapon if there good. Huh, wonder why they would do that? (SARCASM)

The Light Rifle will be good, but the DMR has much more consistent damage, and that -Yoink!- 3x scope.

The Carbine functions similar to the Needle Rifle in that it’s not as good as against shields. Of course unlike that weak gun, it has no bloom, no gimmicky explosion, faster ROF, and larger clip size. It’s no DMR but it has decent range on the scope but because it’s weaker, you can’t afford to drop shots.

The scoped fire mode is why I’m leaning toward the Light Rifle. Use the boltshot as a secondary, and I’ll be pretty much equipped for all ranges of combat. Of course, I’ll be using the “stay scoped in when shot” modification as soon as I unlock it.

That armor mod is known as Stability. You earn it when you’ve reached level 10 in the Rogue Specialization.

Any decent player would strafe while your scoping him at a close distance… Once again it will be changed to not be so OP in the final version of the game
Another thing that makes me mad is how they say the BR is good at close range, but then they say that the automatic weapons beat everything at close range. I guess it depends on what people mean by “close range”.

Doesn’t change the fact that people who went in skeptical came out reassured that BR is still as useful as DMR and the rest in it’s niche-range.
Whether top-tier play will do it justice is yet to be seen, but even that shouldn’t negate the intended advantage the BR has been given over it’s range.
