Had the same splatter issue, don’t know if that’s a netcode issue or a damage calculation issue but it’s inconsistent and a pain.
I think a big issue with the longevity of the vehicles is that vehicle health is no longer tied to driver shields. I can sort of understand the reasoning for it but it just makes vehicles a lot less enjoyable and it really doesn’t allow the great driver/gunner teams to separate themselves from the average player in terms of skill, as much.
Personally I would be a happy camper with vehicle health tied to shields. The vehicle damage system would make even more sense that way. Imagine having a hog with 4 tires blown off! It would just make it harder to pull off vehicle plays but if you were skilled enough you could still manage it - just another aspect to increase the vehicle skill gap.
Also hard disagree on the ghost. I still think this iteration is a beast.
Having a warthog that lasts would be wonderful. Bombing around in a wreck getting sprees would be hilarious.
Nowadays your lucky to get 5-10 kills before you get skewered
Tbh I thought that was what they were going to go with when they introduced t the new vehicle part damage system because sure if it’s tied to shields you can survive forever technically, but after a while, that vehicle is going to be very difficult to use. I kind of figured the doom state was just a warning just before you are about to blow (no shields)
With the current system your vehicle is usually perfectly functional until its dead. It would be pretty fun if you were in a banshee just barely escaping death, having your left wing blown off and now you can’t really turn right effectively anymore so you have to adjust your strategy rather than your banshee just dying even though you may not have sustained that much damage in that specific fight.
Oh, don’t forget when you barely touch the ground with the Banshee it instantly goes in self destruct mode…
I honestly don’t see a point in the doom state.
It’s annoying to light a vehicle up and it goes doomed while they drive off and bail out.
I’d be okay if they got rid of it too. I just thought when they first showed off the new vehicle systems that there would be more to it than "your vehicles health can only go down and then it dies.but we need it to flow red so you don’t just die without warning "
I agree with the OP entirely, and I’d also add that overall there are way too many ways to counter vehicles as well. I’ll name them for you: Shock grenades, shock rifle, shock pistol, sniper, skewer, grav hammer, rockets, hydra, repulsor, grapple shot.
It’s bad enough the vehicles don’t feel right, are super weak, and maps have horrible terrain to drive on, but add in like a dozen counters and there’s basically no point using them.
Only flown one like twice, but in both of those I’ve landed direct bombs on guys I’ve grazed a bit with the cannons and it still doesn’t kill. Just does not feel even close to as usable as even the clunky one in 2
Glad someone mentioned the sniper, never liked how they shoved that into being anti vehicle and way too powerful against air targets. You want balance in how strong an air vehicle is relevant to the weapons that there are to destroy it, but the vehicles are waaay under that bar now

Every one of the vehicles drives badly. They all feel like cartoon vehicles and are not satisfactory to play. They are not enjoyable.
Halo 5 had vehicle play absolutely perfectly. Hell, everything about Halo 5 multiplayer especially concerning movement was brilliant compared to Infinite.
Even the OP vehicle variants slotted in well since you could take them out with your own. Wild it went from that to this
Sniper should never be as effective as it is against vehicles. It started with reach and should have ended there.
Cindershot works well as well and the heat wave. Hell it takes like 3-4 sword swings to take out a ‘Hog as well.
I hate vehicles and my favorite thing to do is destroy them aggressively in any way possible. I don’t like vehicle fans very much because they inevitably make the game annoying to me
The sentinel beam is insanely good against vehicles, someone on the team in btb should always have one for that reason
To be honest I hate being able to roll vehicles mid-air. Hated it in 5 and I hate it in Infinite. It stops punishing bad and reckless drivers and removes a bit of chaos that used to happen when you’re in a warthog rolling from a bad landing.
The difference was that the weapons were still lethal. I’ve had running riots using the banshee before on reach because I could get guaranteed kills with the vehicles.
Do you guys think 343 made the vehicles trash on purpose? To make is easier for noobs and new players to the franchise to deal with veterans on vehicles?

Specifically I abhor warthogs and don’t think they should exist. Ive got multiple montages Over the years about destroying them. I have one for Infinite in the works as well
