The Banished Don't Look Like The Banished

The Banished troops in Infinite, except for a couple of Brutes and one red Elite in the Gameplay Trailer, don’t look like the Banished. With the blue Elites and orange Grunts, it really just felt like we were fighting the Covenant again. Additionally, the armour designs for the Elites and Brutes, in the gameplay shown, also appear to be more Covenant-esque, opposed to the more crude Banished armour style we saw in Halo Wars 2. The game keeps telling me they’re Banished but I keep seeing Covenant.

I thought the same thing but the brutes that did sport that red, may not be exactly halo wars style, but I like it more I have to say. Vehicles have yet to come though, besides the phantom, honestly the ugliest halo wars 2 unit like why did they pick that for the demo why didn’t they just use the spirit. As for the other grunts/elites I really like the colors, makes it feel halo. That part apparently takes place later in the campaign according to the last news post. So I doubt it but maybe there will be an explanation.

OH MY GOD! Finally someone else who agrees. It just feels like the Covenant all over again. I thought they were great in Halo Wars 2. I assume they may have changed the colors to allow for enemy differentiation, but I think they should have stuck with the red and grey color scheme. Things don’t look at scavenged as they did in HW2. I miss the brute designs from HW2 and the general aesthetic. Also I agree with surfer45, should have used the Phantom.

Well, the classic elites and grunt could belong to this Harbinger faction. I vaguely remember the Elites and grunts from the Storm Covenant bow down to Cortana. Just imagine all of the elites and grunts in Halo 5 but with Classic armor instead. There are red elites in the Halo Infinite 1 minute gameplay trailer as well and they have more an angular, sharp looking armor much like the Banished. One thing I would love to see are the Honor Guards, in Covenant/Banished style. I also imagine that these two factions will not get along given Atriox’s and his Banisheds history with them.

Link to that certain part.

Yes again another post I agree with, the Banished in halo wars look way more intimidating and threatening. The threat seemed serious and detrimental like it really was an oh -Yoink- Atriox and his boys are the next level.
These guys stood against the covenant and won. The banished in the reveal just look like halo 3 brutes with a fresh coat of paint, and lego dropships.
The brute at the end doesn’t even seem like a threat. just a bloke next on chiefs list.
atrioxs intro of him messing up Jerome and crew was epic. This guys intro was cringe as hell and visually just off.
I just hope they don’t pull some crap like yeah he’s so bad he killed the Spartans from halo 5 to cover the plot holes.
Atriox was the perfect villain. This monkey so far seems like a joke in comparison.

I thought the exact same thing, I still don’t understand why there are blue elites, orange grunts straight from the covenant. The only banished I saw were the brutes that came out of the drop pods

Yeah I find it weird that the Banished are cast from the Covenant only to show up with armors extremely similar in design.
I thought those were essentially the perks of betraying the Elites, the Brutes in H2 we saw basically running around buck wild with a helmet and a bandoleer now sported sophisticated power armor with energy shields in H3.

I’m wondering where all the armor plates went

The reason you have colorful Brutes instead of the dark crimson tones of HW2 is for the same reason that Elites have gone back to the older designs, Chief’s armor looks more like it did in the original trilogy, and everything is more saturated. 343 are trying to evoke memories of the older games with Infinite. It’s clear that with the demo they were trying to score points by remind us of CE’s Halo mission. The color tones of the Brutes are their way of trying to emulate that, same as with all the other enemies in the game.

You don’t have to be an expert at the games to quickly familiarize yourself with the enemies color scheme, either. Gold>Red>Blue, it’s that simple. You’re killing two birds with one stone - an easy time for newer players, and a shot of nostalgia for veterans who wanted that ‘classic’ Halo art style. Just my two cents.

Well but the colours shouldn’t be that bright, more dark and metall would be good.

I agree. If the blue and orange were just darker and more metallic, it’d give off the more scavenged vibe that we had with the Halo Wars 2 Banished, not this bright and colourful Covenant armour.

The covenant are the harbinger which us why there are with the banished. They teamed up

Not only that but why did the Brutes go from being hairy ape like creatures to just being thick humanoids with little to no fur, and shrek like faces?

I also suspected the more covenant looking units may belong to the harbinger faction if that’s even what the harbinger is.
