343, I know you’re marketing the fight between the Banished and Chief, but where are the Flood? You either want to keep it under wraps for us to discover ourselves on the damaged ring, or something else entirely, I’m unsure.

Why would the flood be the focus going into the game? I would rather it be a surprise if they do come back. The banished bring an edginess back to Halo.
If the flood do come back it’s not something that 343 would announce and potentially leak a huge spoiler. Even if they are not in campaign, it’s certainly a possibility in a future part of campaign over the coming years.
Guess we’ll find out soon enough. The banished add such an edge to it already, and as for Jega… I think I’m actually terrified of coming across him lol
As others have said, if The Flood are in the game, I feel like they want it to be a surprise to the player/community. Not an “oh btw, here’s The Flood.” A lot of people are setting themselves up for disappointment. I know many of us want The Flood to continue in the games but 343 has never alluded to them to my knowledge. They’re developing the Banished and have really sent the message home on them. Honestly, I’m here for it. I like what the Banished bring to the table in terms of a new faction/enemy.
a halo game doesnt need the flood but i think it just comes down to execution. we’ve already know the only way to stop the flood is by firing a ring and its already been done. i want them back but an end is needed, maybe a cure?

Flood was in Wars 2. So the Banished do have experience fighting them. And while H:I doesn’t NEED Flood, it would be at total waste not to have them especially considering Zeta Halo’s history with the Flood.

Important to remember the campaign will be live service.

Atriox’s chapter of the Banished do. Specifically Pavium and Voridus. Entirely likely that Escharum has never encountered them. Not that they can’t communicate but just making that point.
And I agree, given the history around Zeta Halo and The Flood, it seems like a prefect setup but like you said, I don’t think they NEED to be there. I would rather see a compelling and well rounded story that fleshes out the Banished rather than 343 trying to shoehorn the Flood in.
CE had Flood and the first time anyone found out about them was when they played the level 343 Guilty Spark. As far as I know, no marketing material showed the Flood before launch.
If we see turf wars between the Banished and the Flood; that would be sick.

I don’t want them to shoehorn ANYTHING in just for the sake of it. That’s how we got H5. But humanity has discovered 3 halo rings. Delta, Gamma (which we haven’t even set foot on), and the newly built Alpha Halo that was intercepted by Cortana’s guardian. What’s more, Anders, who has experience with the Banished was trapped on it, and it’s possible some of the Banished didn’t escape the ring before it slipspaced.
What I’m saying is that Infinite’s campaign could have just taken place on Installation 4, if the plot was simply “Evil Cortana has control of a Halo Ring and the Banished are there too”. But they chose to go a previously undiscovered ring that just so happens to be drowning in Flood lore. That’s just to coincidental. I’ll be astonished if they chose Zeta Halo as their setting just for -Yoink- and giggles.
Fair point about Escharum possibly not knowing about the High Charity incident.
As more time has gone on, the more I think flood stuff is going to be a big future expansion

I think it is how Halo Infinite ends and will be the next expansion to the live service.

This. I doubt 343 will announce flood. It should be a surprise to give the same feels as CE. Afterall, it is a “reboot”
