So as we know each Halo since Halo 3 has had a slightly different system of armor customization. With Halo 3 we were just dipping our feet into it, than with Reach we got a nice balance, than with 4 it seemed like we had a good amount to change but maybe to many choices to distinguish from eachother.
I feel personally that Halo 5 landed in a very rough spot with the customization. Where we don’t have much to change but we also have too many choices. By too many choices I mean that it has gotten difficult to even tell different armors apart.
So what do you guys think would be a good customization system that you think Halo 5 should have gone with? Or do you think the current one is fine? I personally liked Halo 4s amount of armor we could change, but I believe the amount of armor choices itself were to many and too alike eachother.
They should’ve stick with Halo 4’s armour customisation and stick with the emblem customisation system since Halo 3. The chances of them adding full armour & emblem customisation is very slim. It’s better for all of us to advocate this for Halo 6 & all future Halo games.

Exactly why I am trying to get the ball rolling on multiple major topics on what I and many other feel are Halo 5s weak points that can be fixed for either 5 or even future titles.
I would just be fine with Halo 4’s armor customization.
I would happily return to Halo 4’s customisation option. However scrolling down and up looking for armour is not ideal. I think armour should be grouped in tabs. Once you click on an armour piece, more of the same armour appears. Rather than just being all in the same column.
I don’t need Reach’s level of customization. So much of it was small and you could barely notice it.
I’d be fine with Halo 4’s level but honestly all I need is Halo 3’s system plus the addition of visor colors and maybe even helmet attachments.
That’s it.
There is no need to customize every inch of your Spartan. Halo 3’s ability to change the helmet, torso, and the left & right shoulder pieces was almost perfect minus the lack of visor customization.
Which brings me to another point, for Halo 6 and future titles, instead of unlocking colors just let us use a color wheel. Halo 5’s REQ system is full of visors that look barely different from one another. We don’t need fifteen purple visors.

Even better: why not have the option to input RGB values to get the precise colour we want? Brightness and contrast sliders are a necessity, too.

That would also be nice. Just do away with unlockable visor colors. It’s so stupid.

…and for the final cherry on the top, we need the option of a glowing visor. I mean, if Locke has a glowing visor on his helmet, why can’t we? Once again, brightness and contrast sliders would help for that perfect look.
Halo 4s user interface and customization options were great IMO. I agree that the abundance of armors has blurred the individuality and uniqueness between sets. Sadly they went for quantity to make REQ cards. Leaving awesome suits/helmets behind while at the same time including four variants of some absolutely terrible armor sets. The fact that Vanguard from H4 didn’t make it over but we have 3 skin variants of Seeker is just silly. One skin variant of Operator GEN-II or Scanner but multiple versions of Athlon? I remember loving EVA in H3/Reach, even H4. But now there is literally 10 EVA-like helmets. I don’t really have anything bad to say about them because every helmet is someone’s favorite but 343i definitely jumped over the “too many EVA helmet” line. I would absolutely prefer that they move back towards a more organized system like Reach and H4 and just make a handful of default armor skins that can be applied to any piece of armor. That way your options aren’t flooded with slightly different duplicates cluttering up the menu. Armor Piece: Left Shoulder > Model: Gungnir > Skin: Dvalin. Then give players a tertiary color adjustment for the armor skin. Unfortunately I hate to see 343i kill any armors because I’m just not programmed for that kind of sadness. RIP Vanguard, Oceanic, Hazop. Moving forward I would hope they pump the brakes on new armors. We’ve have two games in a row that have introduced A LOT of new stuff. I think focusing on refinement and interchangeability would make a lot of diehards happy but I don’t know if it will be equally appreciated by the 10 year olds these newer titles seem to be targeted towards. I mean what can H6 be? The easy answer and trend as of late seems to be MORE CARDS. I fear that if another card system is implemented moving forward the status quo will only become even more overwhelmed by senselessly added armor sets. I personally enjoyed thinking my suit was specifically designed/built for targeted uses in 3/Reach/4 (but 4 pushed that to it’s limit IMO). Then being able to mix and match the unique pieces to create what I thought was my own special built Mjolnir armor is something that Halo 5 missed by a mile. So again I’m not calling for current H5 armors to be trashed. I’m simply saying “PLEASE GOD NO MORE NEW ARMORS IN H6”. Like maybe one. One(Prototype Mark VII ;] ). Organize and deepen customization of the content we already have.

God this right here. PLEASE.
Someone tell me WHY we stepped back from full customisation again?
I would like a system like halo reaches but have paints types like halo 5. Just have it where you pick a armor type and then show paint jobs so they are not scattered about. Also have more diversity and armor given to you by commendations. Like if you get 100 grenade kills, you get eod. If you get 300 grenade kills you get a epic looking paint job for that armor.
I agree, like what is the point of adding variations of armors? like why 3 different defender armors that arent really any different at all?

Probably time constraints and even the REQ system probably had something to do with it. They were dead set on making the armor apart of REQs. Could you imagine the REQ system now but with the individual armor peices we have had? It would be a nightmare to unlock everything. But the armor and other cosmetics should not be in the REQ system at all.

Why only visor? We should just get a color wheel for all color options.

RUL MonkeyxMoo mentioned a color wheel earlier, and it’s not like I’d overlook it.

Microsoft was pushing REQs pretty hard weren’t they.
I would love a glowing red visor. That would be so sick.
