Not surprised Halo 1 had the less content, but it is like the natural thing, the more the game evolves the more content it has at launch. At least that is what is supposed to happen.

it did have the highest map count, but those maps were fairly simplistic in terms of design.
I think that with the power of the Xbox one, they should be able to have above average amounts of content at launch for Halo 6.
- Not re-skinned and rehashed versions of maps already present. - They should bring back at least 3 fan favorite gamemodes from past Halos, such as, oddball, KOTH, a REAL race gamemode, and many more possible choices. - Bringing back a large vehicle sandbox was good, but not diverse. We should bring back some of the more team reliant vehicles like the falcon. They’ve got plenty of new toys to choose from Halo Wars 2, they just need to take them out of the box. - The game needs to launch without relying on future release content, even if it is free. By that time, they would’ve already lost a ton of fans from the start. Halo 6 will be a last straw if they don’t get good impressions. - A campaign mode that can hold itself up without needing outside knowledge to understand what is going on.These are the things that need to be set in stone from the start if Halo is to survive. I know I’ve gone a little off of the rails, but what I say is what I can say for most people is a need. If Halo 6 doesn’t have these things, Halo will likely be taking the same route of the CoD franchise.
I thought Halo 5 launched with three forge canvases, glacier, alpine and the space one (parallax?), not four. Tidal, barrens and the underwater one were added after launch. And technically, halo 5 didn’t launch with these canvases because you couldn’t play on them until forge was added two months later.

you’re forgetting the breakout arena.

- I don’t think the remixes are as big of a deal as some people seem to think, when comparing Halo 5 to other games it it does not have a lack of unique arena maps.
- Halo 3 - 8 arena maps - Halo Reach - 6 arena maps - Halo 4 - 4 arena maps - Hal 5 - 6 arena maps, and 2 arena remixes2. no Halo game has ever had every gamemode from its predecessors. given that there are like 25 game modes and the max to appear in a Halo game is 14 this would be a difficult task. If you end up saying that a game needs all of the old before it can have any new then you basically kill any chance for new game modes and invalidate every multiplayer since Halo 2.
- The Hornet is a better team vehicle then the Falcon because you can run objectives with it.

power of the console would have no effect on launch content. its mostly about development resources and time.

Ah that’s the one. I always forget the things I don’t use, that map being one of those things.

So you mean that the power of the 360 isn’t capped out yet? developers could still be using the 360 to make games of the year without needing the power of the Xbox one?
That’s what I mean. Halo 3, Halo 4, Halo Reach were all possibly held back because of the restraint of power the 360 could hold. Now with the power of the one coming out, the potential can be much higher. developers can now create games that can go far beyond what the 360 could do. That’s why Halo 5 has a file size of over 100 GB while Halo Reaches file size wasn’t even at 10 GB. The power given to the devs in this generation of consoles has untapped potential, much like the 360 did when it came out.

The amount of content isn’t dictated by console power, that all comes down to how much storage you have. Console power dictates how much you can do on-screen at once and the amount of detail in terms of visuals/physics you can implement. There are some huge RPgs with dozens of hours of content that run on the original Xbox, they just look much less advanced than newer games.
Halo 5 is an absolutely massive game, and I feel like a part of that is due to inefficient compression on 343i’s part. I don’t know any other game that’s quite as massive as that. Even Mass Effect Andromeda, which has much more content than Halo 5, isn’t even half of the size. Plus, the power of this generation of consoles is far from untapped. In fact, they were outdated when they released. That’s why stuff like the PS4 Pro and Project Scorpio are being released, because the power of the original consoles just wasn’t good enough. Remember, the Xbox One and PS4 have the exact same architecture as a PC, so they can only really do as much as any PC with the same specs.
