The automated ban system is broken.

If you play breakout with randoms you’ve probably been killed by a teammate for the battle rifle. I have, dozens of times. Not once was a player kicked for it, let alone banned. I was in a game a few minutes ago on crossfire, I have secondary spawn position so I concede the BR. The person grabbed, pushed through house and promptly died without shooting it once. We lose the round.

Same thing happens next round. Round 3 I get a primary spawn and get the Battle rifle get 3 kills and we go perfect. Round 4 I push for the Battle Rifle from the secondary spawn and get killed by one of the three in the party for it. We lose the round.

Next round I concede it, the guy picks it up and sprints through the house, runs right into two friendly grenades and dies. I get a betrayal but we win the round. Next round I get killed going for the battle rifle again by one of the three party members. We lose the round.

I’ve had it at this point. They aren’t being held accountable for their actions and based on their immediate reactions to someone taking the battle rifle it’s probably something they’ve done before.

I hit the ground the next game, start to get shot and kill the teammate doing it. I get kicked because it’s my second betrayal of the game even though the first one was accidental. I’m now sitting on a 6 hour ban with no potential to have the game reviewed or the ban appealed.

I work full-time like a lot of you do. Got the day off, was looking forward to playing with a buddy from high-school that lives across the country. I can’t do that.

It it seems to me that the automated service is in place to act as a substitute for actual moderation. A computer can’t do a humans job in this sense. An algorithm won’t show you that the game was 7v1 from the start.

Edit: Turns out it was a 6 minute ban and it was over by the time I finished writing. Go figure.

I don’t play Breakout ever… or Arena for that matter. No casual/social unranked playlists.

But I know the automated ban is a bit broken. I’ve splatted several teammates in a single match and never got banned.

You kill two and faced a 6-hour ban without even being given like a 10-minute ban as a warning.

I loathe Breakout, for the team-killing mainly. Whenever I grab the BR, half the time my teammates shoulder-charge me or spam SMG until I either give it to them or die.

I actually hope they increase the level of ban at higher levels. Currently, far too many of the matches I compete in leave me shorthanded. However, I can overcome the loss of a team member at lower levels. Furthermore, I think people who play more casually are less likely to want or care about the ban. As a solution, the penalty and level at which the penalty incurs should increase and become more often, respectfully, as your CSR increases.
