Hi community, Do you think (if there is an AR in H4) that it should be accurate OR just more powerful than the previous Assault Rifles in the Halo games. Believe me i’m happy that the BR is returning and all but The AR was pretty weak in all the other games besides Halo:CE. What say you community?
The AR was really good in halo:CE also it would kinda not be the same with out the AR or at least a smg
Well we know for a fact that it’s returning in Halo 4. I think it should act like the on in Reach, though be just a tad more powerful. The MA5C was terribly weak in Halo 3, and it took a step in the right direction with the MA37, but it was still lacking a bit of oomph.
However, if the latest podcast is to be believed, the Assault Rifle seems like it will be useful and fun to use.

They talked about the AR in the most recent Sparkast. From the sounds of things, it won’t be as simple as “spraying and praying”.
What I hope to see is a weapon that is effective only with burst fire, a weapon where going fully automatic would guarantee failure outside of extreme close range.

But that’s how it is now isn’t it?
I’ve been wanting a useful reincarnation of the AR ever since I lost it the first time in Halo 2. Reach’s Beta AR came close. Reduce the magnetism a bit, scale up the damage ~10%, and that might make it a force to reckon with, not just something to carry around until you can trade up. Then again, I could be completely wrong. Only time will tell, I guess.
I agree that the ar needs to be more powerful
i mentioned in a previous thread that it should shoot 60 rounds per clip like in ce
It seemed to me like Frank O’Connor was saying that the Assault Rifle is a little more powerful than in the other games. It still needs to be used properly in order to be effective. But it will dish out a bit more damage.
what needs to happen is the AR needs much less auto aim, accelerated upwards recoil, and no random deviation, till than it will be useless or incredibly noobish…

second to the needler the AR was the worst gun in that game, the shotgun sniper and plasma weapons did the CQC deal better and the pistol destroyed it everywhere ells.

the halo 3 AR was the best of the series it took only one more bullet to kill than the halo CE AR however was as accurate as the battle rifle when fired in burst.
Each time I uses the AR im always 1/2 bullets short of killing my enemies
So give me like 6 more bullets in the clip …
That is all …

in halo 3 it takes 16 of 32 rounds to kill, in reach 18 or 32, shoot better…
Ar needs to have slower kill times than the DMR and BR
I am a huge fan of the AR, and my personal opinion is that it needs to be a more accurate version of Halo: Reaches AR. Not as powerful as H3’s but not as in-accurate, and weak as Halo; Reaches.

You think Reaches is inacurate? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!??!?!?

It has always been slower.

Bloom ruined this.

In Halo: Combat Evolved? Did you use the Needler very often? There was a reason it was dubbed the “Elite Killer.”

It’s still slower in Reach, people whom I have gone up against when I have the DMR havn’t even taken down all of my shields with thier AR most times.

They must have terrible aim.

Hmm, you’re right. I just looked it up, the MA37 has a slower fire rate and decreased damage per bullet… But for some reason it just feels more powerful than the MA5C. Maybe it’s because of the general slower pace of Halo Reach compared to Halo 3 as well as the better sounds.
