The assault rifle needs more bullet spread

The assault rifle needs more spread, I should not be getting sniped from one end of the map by it. Give the AR the bullet spread that halo reach AR had that was probably the best AR I have used in a halo game. Do something to it,

I agree that it needs a slight adjustment, not sure how much exactly, but its ability to suppress snipers at 100m is a bit silly for halo.

You are not getting sniped from across the map.

That’s impossible to do unless you’re one shot or near that. The AR is fine.

I use the AR a lot and it has never been able to suppress snipers at 100m unless you’re really skilled at tap firing.

My range is probably off. Specifically I’m thinking of the sniper tower to the flag stands on Behemoth.

What? That’s way off. The ar can’t reach that far let alone get a kill from that range.

I never said kill, I said suppress. I’ve never seen kills happening, just descoping the sniper proving it ineffective. I think only the BR, commando, shock rifle, or the red carbine should be able to suppress at that range.

So you’re mad that you can get grazed by an AR across the map so it descopes your superior BR or Sniper? Get good.

Not mad, just feel that the AR’s effective range is a little too far. It is a matter of balance, not skill. I’ve been on the giving and receiving end.

Well, I wouldn’t really call descoping a sniper effective. It literally takes one bullet from anything to descope a sniper.

I think range would be more appropriate balance wise.

If im completely honest if you want to get a kill from a ranged distance, you should definitely get better with a BR or sniper. An AR has always been a close quarters weapon dabbling into mid range if you burst fire… NOT when you hold the trigger to the ground, spraying like an imbecile and getting a kill from a BR or sniper distance. The bullets are to well narrow and too accurate opposed from other halos just saying

Let me put it in perspective for ya, the map is bazaar there’s an enemy on the catwalk that leads to Cafe, if im merely standing at the gate doors to the middle of my spawn that person will pull his trigger down fully, spray his rifle and hit all shots on me to the point I die. Don’t say it’s not possible bc I’ve done this many times, I’ve had other people do this many times, the AR needs spread or more recoil. I’m not saying to the point that no one will use it, but a tad more than what it has already.

If you can’t win in that situation with a BR that’s on you. It’s perfectly fine that the AR can fight back a little.

Not when an AR is specifically designed to be close range, try using an AR at a BRs range in past halos you’ll see it takes more to kill

In QP there’s pretty much no reason to pick up 3 quarters of the weapons available because of how powerful the AR is in every situation

It didn’t take more skill. It was just a design decision (a bad one) to make it useless.

Edit: Dude, AR will almost never win at BR range. Try it in BTB (if it works)

Exactly my point! What’s the point in using other weapons when I can just use the AR as my main weapon, it needs a change.

Yep you both are right. Just about half the weapons in the sandbox need a buff.

I feel the AR is in a really good spot, the best it’s ever been in a Halo game IMO. It’s the utility weapon of the game (finally) and does all the things a good utility weapon should do - be a jack of all trades but a master of none.

I think it really shines at this role because it does allow for an AR wielding player to engage a player using a precision weapon and maybe even win depending on the distance and how trigger disciplined the AR user is. To me, that’s good balance. The BR > AR should not be automatic. Yes, at a point the AR should have range drop off but I don’t feel it’s range is egregious.
