Since when has halo had the assault rifle as it’s most powerful and all purpose gun? NEVER! Halo is at it’s core a FPS game that rewards players for skill and not luck. Why is it that a non precision weapon is the most powerful start weapon then 343? I hate getting outplayed by a gun that isn’t based off of accuracy or skill and rather favors how many spread fire random shots you can get off. Make the assault rifle a pee shooter gun for campaign like it used to be and reduce the bloom on the sidekick. It will make the gameplay more seamless and keep the casual element of quick play in tact.
If they had BR starts everyone hides and just takes pot shots at each other which sucks!
I’m not advocating for BR starts in quick play. I’m wanting the AR to be like it once was and for the sidekick to have slightly less bloom. Let the AR be the gun for when you need to finish a player with no shields.
Umm HAlo CE have you never played it? it was that or the Pistol…
You’re supposed to use the AR to get rid of shields and then finish with the sidekick for a quick headshot.
If It’s going to be AR starts I’d rather it be worth using, especially with the limited amount of BR/Commandos available.
at least you can strip shields and more with it now i didn’t like halo3’s 32 shot AR and I barely saw it used.
I much prefer H4/H2A’s version of the AR. its crazy strong but can’t be relied on in every situation due to its range limitations and feels way more consistent.
the random recoil reset on infinite’s AR makes feathering needlessly difficult and encourages holding the trigger until your target is dead. combined with the headshot damage multiplier that you’re definitely not going to be hitting intentionally, infinite’s AR is pure RNG.
H2A had an AR?
The AR is more nuanced then it appears at first. It seems to have a gradual bloom build up after a few seconds of firing. Noticing when that happens and letting go of the trigger (this is at medium range mind you) to reset the gun seems to allow me to win most AR fights. Another thing is the sidekick (if you dont miss) will win against an AR in every fight. The AR has always been an iconic weapon in the Halo universe, but I agree, its always been a throw away or joust weapon. I think Infinite has nailed it down to be the Leatherman of most situations. But I can understand peoples frustrations, but with practice with the sidekick at medium to short range and BR to long range, both will beat the AR.
SET A FIRE IN YOUR HEART SPARTAN!! FIGHT HARD! Die well…
Exactly, AR to take down shields or support my team. If i can get my hands on on BR/Commando then i drop the sidekick.
AR is now a starter weapon that allows you to protect the carrier, support the team and have the chance to counter all other weapons.
I really like the Halo Infinite AR.
disagree. halo 2 and halo 3 ( the most popular) always had a good AR with bad magnum (sidekick)… they come back to the routh and i like that… also you can search in level for br, the br is better than ar.
That’s my problem. It takes way more skill and practice to use the sidekick and barely scrape by the faster ttk on the assault rifle. Plus the assault rifle has longer range. I’m just calling for a nerf to make it to where the sidekick is an even more viable option. Right now they are just too close in ttk. It feels like with the sidekick I have to have an almost perfect shot to beat the assault rifle in a regular engagement, while with the assault rifle it can just get that same ttk with way less skill and it’s annoying because it’s almost like the game is favoring guns that take less skill to use.
I don’t remember them having an AR in Halo 2… that game had BR starts. I would know that’s my favorite halo game lol.
Bungie games had terrible balance and a bunch of useless guns. The argument « always has been » doesn’t make it right.
It’s not about what it can do. It’s about how it’s achieved. They AR weather you like it or not, takes less skill to use then a precision weapon. Halo has always had precision weapons as all purpose guns because they take more skill to use and are less about luck. The AR can still be viable but I think that the sidekick should be the primary gun in casual play because it stays true to the halo formula better and has its casual play homages like bloom etc.
That’s your opinion lol… 343 had all of its games with precision weapons as primary as well if you don’t remember.
My first sentence is literally a fact. Now if you like having the BR as the only viable non power weapon, that’s your opinion.
So you just want Halo 5 again.
That’s what plasma guns where used for but now they’ve all been vetoed.
the assault rifle served its purpose as a great gun for killing the small flood in campaign and being a default weapon that didn’t have to be amazing in multiplayer. Now it’s just an homage to games like call of duty that encourage just holding the trigger until your target is dead instead of timing your shots.
I literally never said BR’s had to be the only viable non power weapon. Have you even been reading what I’m saying. An automatic gun as the main non power weapon in casual play removes the whole idea of timing your shots. Halo is known for precision weapons because every game has had it. That is a good point because I’m critiquing a halo game and not a call of duty game. If you won’t a game where the best and most versatile guns are automatic weapons you can literally play any other FPS game. Precision weapons as primary make halo unique and are a part of a formula that a lot of people love. I was saying that the assault rifle should still be viable but it needs a nerf so that the sidekick can be more user friendly and retain the sidekick as the main primary weapon in quick play.
