The assault carbine - what could it be?

I’ve asked several people what the Assault Carbine could be and how it will differ from the DMR, BR, and the Covenant Carbine. Many have told me it is the MA5K used in Ghost of Onyx. It’s visible on the cover of the book. Could it in fact be the MA5K? How would it differ from the rest? What role will it play in the story? Could it be a Covenant weapon? You tell me what you think it could be.

I think that it will probably be a UNSC weapon.

Then what was that weapon that the elite was using against chief in one of the leaked pages?

Looked a lot like the Covenant Carbine.

Could be the Covenant version of the Sniper Rifle. Instead of the Beam Rifle or that poor excuse for a weapon, the Focus Rifle.
