I believe that we can all agree that Assassinations in Halo are pretty awesome. Though they rarely happen during regular gameplay, and it is easier to just smack them in the back, it is always satisfying to watch as your Spartan absolutely shuts down your enemy. I also love how in Halo 5 you can equip different assassination animations to give you that extra glory over your opponent.
Kind of a side note, but I’d like to see in a new Halo 5 update or in Halo 6 that you can equip more than one assassination animation at once, at least three, so that you don’t know what you’re going to get. Or better yet, make assassinations that are dependent on which weapon you have equipped while assassinating someone (kind of like the sword and hammer assassinations)
So, here is my question: What is your favorite assassination to deliver upon your foes? My favorites are Terminal Velocity and Flagsassination!
I lean towards the more physical assassinations, preferably those that have greater emphasis on using your bare hands rather than knives (for the final blow). Those would be:
Lawn Dart - Kneed-ful Things - Windup - The piggyback assassination
I just turned off my assassinations so I could get the much faster, less humiliating beat down on my opponents. They’re dead anyway, no need for me to humiliate them further.
Love 100 ways to die.Its just plain cool to watch, but if anything else, I love watching Lawn dart.

While it makes sense to just beat them down, and I understand where you are going, assassinations just provide something unique that Halo offers. And I mean, we all can agree that assassinating another person is pretty damn amazing.

I wish 343 would make the “piggyback” one a custom assassination, instead of it being only accessible when you have “default” assassinations equipped.

For competitive reasons, I have my assassinations turned off also. The largest drawback of them is you leave yourself to be an open target while performing them as we’ll as taking an unnecessary amount away from your map control (some players only use Lawn Dart or 104 ways to die because they have the shortest animation time). I’ve seen enemies perform them in a fight for a power weapon or power up, o ly to have me walk up and grab it while they are stuck in animation… It’s just to funny and far more tactically wise to take advantage of players that use them instead of doing them yourself.
I love the assassinations in Halo 5 and the fact we get options to change it is boss!
But, I do agree that the whole humiliating people with them while amazing does have the huge downfall of leaving you completely open.
My favorite assassination is turning assassinations off. It hasn’t felt cool since Halo Reach and even then it got tiresome.
Totally get that some people enjoy that sort of thing, but I’m the type of spartan that just wants to get the kill and move onto the next one without risking getting yoinked or killed mid-assassination.
Yep, it’s very easy to do an assassination, I already have 1,200 or something like that… I lost count after a thousand xD
I usually use “Don’t flip out”, but my favorites are “Stop stabbing yourself” and “104 ways to die”…

Actually, you can perform the piggyback assassination even if you have equipped another assassination. You just have to hit your the back of your opponent’s head, neck, or their upper back while you’re airborne, and they are not. Beware though, the Ground Pound charge-up can interfere, however.

I wanna say that particular assassination may be included in the upcoming content update that included the Reach Grenade Launcher, the AA Wraith, and the Sentinel Beam.
I love using assassinations in custom games for fun, but in ranked arena using the animations has cost me games. I had a game on CTF coliseum where an assassination delayed me from getting a return and we lost.

I very much hope that we’ll be able to assassinate with bayonets before Halo 5’s content support ends.
I sent a PM to Bravo about them:
Warzone exclusive assassinations
"Hi,
I was excited to read in the Community Update that some “new flavours of goodness” will soon come to Halo 5.I was wondering whether the team would consider adding Warzone-exclusive bayonet assassinations to the “flavours of goodness”. I personally would be overjoyed if the team made it possible to perform assassinations with bayonets and other members of the Halo Community have also expressed a desire for Bayonet assassinations.
Below, I’ve hopefully addressed some of the concerns that some players have about being able to assassinate with bayonets.
I understand that some people consider that having bayonet assassinations would be too much like GOW, but I imagine that a GOW bayonet execution and a Halo bayonet assassination would be quite different to each other.
I also understand that people are concerned that having an assassination start when they attack someone from behind with a bayonet would make them vulnerable, as the bayonet wouldn’t have the insta-kill effect. However, I believe that this can be remedied by having a “disable bayonet assassinations” option in the controller menu (like there is for normal assassinations).I hope that yourself and the team like this suggestion! Thanks"
Because Bravo used the plural of assassination when he was describing what would be coming to Halo 5, there’s a chance that they may be in this next update.
