Can someone please tell me why there’s a radar in a COMPETITIVE playlist. I don’t see a radar in Mlg, SWAT or Snipes and even then Snipes isn’t much of a competitive playlist. Also, why are weapons such as the shotgun, sword and concussion rifle in that playlist too?
I’m sick of all the camping that goes on in this playlist and before people tell me to just play another playlist, I do, but I like the competitive feel to Arena, I think it just needs some tweaking.

It’s ace, I haven’t had it long but I can’t play without it now. Definitely improved my play. Just need to stop drinking when I play now, or at least not play arena so I can get a better rank.
Maps such as Sword Base and Countdown are usually always chosen when featured on the veto list. Both maps feature swords and shotguns with a lot of CQC areas. Campers love these maps. It would be nice if 343i tweaked The Arena but I’d be happy if they either took the radar out and left the noob weapons or vice versa.
The problem is lack communication a lot of the time. You need 4 people talking ideally, but finding 4 friends of equal skill can be difficult. Just telling them to hold back from the lift room so you can pummel it with the grenade launcher usually works.
I’d love to see the removal of all CQC weapons from The Arena, with perhaps the only exception being the Shotgun on one or two maps, but even that should be removed on maps like Countdown and Sword Base. I just think if Sword/Hammer were replaced with Grenade Launcher on most maps it would improve things.
I also wouldn’t mind having Allies only or even just 10m (from default 25m) motion tracker. I’ve playtested both and in comparison with current gameplay their effects on map movement are nothing short of astonishing.
I am hoping that 343i will make a fairly radical change to the Arena from Season 9 onwards.
At least:
No Jetpacks
No Sword Base
No Uncaged
Revamped weapon set
^That, and the fact that there should not be a radar in a competitive playlist. Arena is all about dividing the community up into different skill categories which proves it’s a competitive playlist.
I’m not opposing the radar as I know there should be one in more casual playlists, such as TS, BTB etc. It just annoys me that most Arena games are either 10 minutes of camping behind walls with a shotty/sword or 10 minutes of really slow paced gameplay.

I think that the way that area is set up is a joke, so I don’t play it. You can play it if you like, but there are too many aspects of the playlist that are just terri-bad.
Yeah, I’m losing my patience with it. The only reason I still play it on occasion is because I always seem to get put up against teams of 4 on MLG and get destroyed which is not fun at all.
If certain maps remain in Arena (Uncaged, Swordbase, etc), then jetpack needs to stay.
There’s little wrong with CQB weapons. On certain maps you have to treat them with the importance you would give a rocket launcher. Timing them, setting up for them, and controlling them all increases the gameplay speed.
As for radar, I’d like to see enhanced radar added before radar is completely removed.
Hey, maybe I’m a little biased, but even with some of the poor settings and competent Halo player will find their way to 1% Onyx.

I’d rather see jetpack as a pickup on Sword Base, because navigation is obviously very limited without it. But having everyone fly around in jetpacks is just irritating, so make it a pickup and therefore an additional control item.
Anyway, sword and CR weren’t in arena before, it used to be the arena standard weapon set, which should definitely be used instead. The first step to making Reach a better competitive game is to take a bite out of its idiotic sandbox. No radar all but cancels out the effectiveness of shotgun/sword camping, so that’s a plus. And just about every map needs an overhaul in regards to spawns and weapon placement.
