In all the halo games, the assault rifle has never been a primary weapon, it is more of a secondary weapon(the only time it was a primary was in halo CE and in invasion at the start of the game) to be used when your primary runs out of ammo. In halo 4 I think that it should be made available alongside the magnum and plasma pistol as a secondary support weapon. This is just what I think though, what do you think?
With one of the Mods you can use, you can have to Primary Weapons at once, so you can actually have the Assault Rifle as a Primary or Secondary.
There is a lot more variety on the loadout system compared to Reach’s.
pretty much yea, the AR will most likely be practically useless in nearly any given situation as always, the only time it would be usefull is when the person is in your face so you finnish with a melee instead of with the AR itself …
Well if 343i did what they should have done in making the AR more powerful than past games, then the AR should be a primary.
The AR is a good starter if you’re smart with it.
If I’m not mistaken (either in a bulletin or during an interview), 343i indicated that they balanced out the weapons. So I’m anticipating the AR to be more effective than what I’ve read it had been in the past. The AR will definitely be my first choice as a primary to test out in Halo 4.

No.
> Go to 4:28. That looks better than a secondary weapon to me.
Start at 3:28 with someone working the AR…
The AR really looks pleasing

In prior builds players commented that while it sounded powerful, it felt weak when compared to other primary weapons. Although that has probably changed and it got a buff. I don’t know, haven’t heard much about the AR in a long time most players are focusing on the other weapons.
