Really needs a buff, Either make it one shot kill or give it a fire mode so it can be an automatic insta-kill shotgun, also make it so i can shoot though walls, with rockets.
I like the way you think. All that sounds good. particularly the rockets thing. I want Rockets to be my number one TOD, but alas on Halo 4 Rockets are very hard to find.

Underpowered??
I keep getting kills with it, especially when facing dmr users. Its fine in my case
I’d rather it just be a bit more accurate like the Halo 3 AR. Right now it’s more of an oversized SMG than a RIFLE.
More importantly, I found a blade of grass on Ragnarok that was way too bright green.

On a serious note, I love the AR for close quarters maps. Different load outs for different maps. 
I’m probably one of the most skilled AR users out there (AR is my most used weapon) and I think it is fine the way it is is.
It’s not the AR that is underpowered. It is the DMR that is OP. Up close, I can take out carbine, light rifle, and BR users so long as I get close enough and dodge enough of their bullets.
But the DMR kills so fast at any range and is so easy to aim that it dominates me up close unless I get a full second of shooting at him before he shoots back.
Only 3 of the starting weapons are unbalanced. The supressor and carbine are underpowered. The DMR is overpowered. The AR, BR, Light Rifle, and Storm rifle are perfect the way they are.

Anyways, all this sounds really balanced to me. It should also have a smaller reticule and scope, so it will be useful in BTB.

It should also have a Margarita dispensing nipple.
