Yes that’s how it is in Infinite, which I think is bad. Obviously range “countering” should naturally come into play in gaming, but it shouldn’t be a hard counter unless it’s weapons like the shotgun or sniper. An AR user shouldn’t get to bullet hose a BR user every time just because they got a little close, it’s a spray and pray weapon. Lower the damage on it, it can still be usable, just not how it is now, lmao.
Regardless of how many weapons you like being viable in a Halo game, it isn’t a fun weapon to have such a strong presence in the game since you just run around and hold lmb. If you get shot first you have little chance of turning the engagement around.
False, the utility weapon was a gun that required some amount of skill. Now we have Infinite where the utility weapon is either the AR or BR and neither require skill.
And? that has no relevance on how the multiplayer is designed and played. Even in campaign the player is shown how the AR is a not the jack of all trades weapon and is weak when used as a typical FPS gun while incentivizing other guns like the magnum.
What I don’t understand is why 343i is not consistent?. All they had to do is use the same weapon settings that was in previous Halo Games. It ain’t Rocket Science people!
Can’t do that, 343 changed too much from prior games. Different aim assist and magnetism, sprint, slide and clamber and all the various under the hood changes along with a modern AAA mindset when it comes to making games means that 343 will never return to the sandbox of CE or Halo 3.
The multiplayer far over took the story. And the energy shield proved to be a reliable game mechanic for said multiplayer. The assault rifle has not and has always found itself in an awkward position. We literally used to switch to our secondary in CE because it was a better weapon. We scavenge for a BR or carbine when given AR starts in other titles and for good reason.
And it being simply the gun chief prefers has no bearing on what should constitute a starting weapon in a balanced multiplayer experience.
