The AR, with the pistol and focus rifle, is one of the most difficult weapons in the game. However it’s still a very good weapon.
It’s okay buddy. Only Pros like the third poster to this thread can handle the weapon.
Pace your shots and consider crouching.

It is MUCH better then the Halo 3 AR (which I mainly compare it to).
It is much more accurate and has a better red reticule range. It’s easy to gun down a jetpacking oponent (provided the noob doesnt have a rocket launcher or some power weapon).
Same with the Reach magnum. It is loads better then the H3 magnum.

agree in all that… but against the H4 ar, its pretty bad.
It’s pretty damn good at close range and makes braking maps with a jet pack easier… All that aim assist is really handy when your up in the air. It beats the DMR easy at close range and can do fairly well at medium range.
However it is probably the worst human weapon. I would prefer it do maybe 5% less damage and have a tighter spread. It may do less damage per hit more hits and less misses should result in an over all better performance at medium range. Come on, these are Spartans in powered super suits with advanced targeting computer systems… Their training since childhood alone means they should almost never miss a shot.
AR is supposed to be a noob weapon in my opinion. Making it more accurate but do less damage is a very balanced idea to me.
No the plasma rifle is. Seriously, it barely does any damage and doesn’t have that fast of a fire rate and overheats too quickly.

Actually its pretty awesome if you get skilled with plasma pistol. Three shots with plasma pistol will completely remove the shields then switch to plasma rifle or repeater.

He said plasma rifle not pistol. Rifle is only good for melee rushing and while still usable is probably the worst weapon in the game. Plasma pistol on the other hand is a semi - power weapon on the same level as the concussion rifle or plasma launcher.
It’s the best weapon
Its funny, i hate the AR in Reach, yet i love it in Halo 4.

Might want to read the post you quoted.
The Reach’s AR is pretty good. It’s effective if one crouches and/or fires in bursts. Otherwise, it’s only good in close range if fired auto.

Thats because they reduced the amount of damage the AR does in halo reach (compared to halo 3) then increased it to normal levels in halo 4.
But the reach AR wasn’t all bad; it was the weapon I used the most in combat.

That’s a good thing if you ask me. Makes it more noob friendly. It’s enough bullet magnetism that a new player will hit what he’s tryin to aim at. It’s fully justified by how slow its kill time is. Now if the AR did more damage, then we can talk about lowering its bulletmagnetism (how far bullets can bend their path if reticle is red) but that video is just fine.
The AR in 2x score attack should have been the mp AR. Seriously, that thing is a meat grinder.

If nothing else it proves that bloom, as a concept, can work.
