the announcer's voice

it’s been bugging me for a while, and i can’t quite place my finger on it, but the announcers voice has been different in halo 4 and now the remastered multiplayer maps in h2A. now while im not complaining about it (and even if i did one random forum post wouldnt change anything) even though i preferred the old style of announcing, this is simply me asking what you think is different about it

They turned Jeff into a -Yoink- AI because of the whole war games thing. The electronic auto tune they added to his voice ruins it, and I’m pretty sure that’s what you’re thinking about.

There are dozens of threads on here that could probably help you place that finger, sir. People don’t like the effects on his voice. It has a lot of what sounds like “chorus” to me. It is not auto-tune. I repeat, it is not tuning his voice at all. I actually have a digital mixer right beside my computer packed full of effects, and it’s most likely “chorus”.

Personally, I think they’re making a much bigger deal out of it than the “oh, that’s sounds different. I prefer the old one, but whatevs” approach that actually merits such an insignificant change. But to each their own.

They did change the Warthog sound but that’s not a matter of having a voice actor coming in and re-recording lines, so I think we’re stuck with it. The good news is, I think we’ll survive.

Speaking of sound design, I’m glad the Battle Rifle doesn’t chirp anymore.

Yeah, I like the old voice a lot better too.

The effect is one thing that detracts from the voice, but how he’s saying things, and what he’s saying are also problematic.
‘CTF! CAPTURE THE ENEMY FLAG AND BRING IT BACK TO SCORE!!!’
It’s just so over the top, forced, and long-winded.
I’m pretty sure we know how CTF works. MCC is supposed to primarily appeal to vets and the hardcore, not noobs who require the definition of CTF.

The old voice was so much better in every way.

I am not a fan either, however if thats all I have to complain about I will be very happy lol.

Exactly. Yeah, it’s a little laughable at times, but to actually create a written complaint about it … of all the possible things … we’re in good shape then I think.

It’s all so ridiculous. The weird electronic filter, the over-excitement in his voice, and the insistence on having completely redundant things announced constantly. I just can’t take H2A gameplay videos seriously because of it…

well about the warthog sound, i think they made it more similar (in h2A at least) to its old form, in a new ign video on stone town

Its really not that big of a deal… Its just a voice and if it bothers you just play Halo 2 classic

Oh god, I hate Jeff’s voice now. In Halo CE - Reach, his voice was incredibly deep and mellow, and now he sounds way too enthusiastic. I’m not a fan of the overhaul of his recordings, and it bugs the hell out of me, along with how much more talkative they’ve made him.

Srsly? Complaining about the announcer voice? Never thought it’ll comedown to this.

I don’t really think that is a big deal. We will get used to it either way.

Yeah, to be honest, I don’t like it too much either. I’m fine with it but I would rather have Halo 2 - Reach voices.

Too much enthusiasm. Should be as enthusiastic as the Chief himself, no more.

I loved hearing “Slllayer” at the start of the game in CE. It was simple and it sounded awesome.

Lol. Just made a post about this!

His voice his way too over the top this time around, especially in the beginning of the matches where he pretty much explains the damn gametype you’re playing.

I’m pretty sure they used most of his voice work from Halo 4, which I’m not a total fan of. It was too hyper sounding, over the top, and kind of… annoying.

Every time I hear him say “Slayer” in the calm, deep voice I’m familiar with. I get nostalgic. So excited to play CE and classic Halo 2! 3 more weeks!!!

i just remember halo 4’s was the worst of dem all lol. pretty sure this isn’t AS bad.

I don’t like the robotic filter effect that’s on it now

It needs to be changed. period.

He sounds like Inspector Gadget
