Here’s an interview with The Announcer from about a year ago. I feel it’s appropriate to post this seeing as there are multiple threads about how they changed his voice.
He goes on to say that when 343 called him in to do recordings for Halo 4, they sort of made him change the announcers voice from gritty and deep to what it is now. And he also talks about the next Halo game (Which we now know is Halo 2: Anniversary) they made him record more stuff, explaining why he talks so much more now. Check it out theres some nice info in there.
Good interview. Not blaming him on the weird voice changes, just bring it back, and back to the old normal. If it aint broke don’t fix it kinda the whole point of this Master Chief collection in the first place.
I just don’t get it.
I want to know who exactly at 343 thinks the new style of announcing actually sounds better.
I don’t understand how anybody could.

Agreed one hundred percent. I don’t honk it sounds any better than a dumpster rolling down a flight of stairs.
I am pretty new to Halo and have only played 5/Guardians. I think the announcer is a strong suit to arena matches. As a noob some of the announcers calls are great - “Cluster Luck” is a favorite. I have zero reference point obviously, but I suspect new players like the Halo 5 announcer.
