The Ancient Enemy has to be introduced or even reintroduced in an amazing way. I don’t just want to step out of the Forward Unto Dawn and just begin to start fighting them. No, they need to be shown to us in a different, maybe even incredibly mysterious way. I’m not exactly sure how 343 is going to do it, but they should take inspiration from Bungie’s reveal of the Flood. These enemies have to be shown as a match for the Forerunners, and, at the same time, they must be introduced in such an incredible way that even Master Chief will feel his spine tingle at the sight of them.
I’m sorry if this post makes not much sense at all, but I’m just rambling on with my mind elsewhere.
Instead of telling 343i what to do, help them out by suggesting some idea. I haven’t got a clue how they could introduce the enemy in the way you’re asking so suggest some idea please.
I think it will go like this.
The MC gets off the Ship, then there are some scouts for the new enemy. they do not attack the MC because they are scouts, and cortanna somehow knows what they are.

I think the first level should have an eerie silence to it, so just you exploring this new world you find your self in maybe finding your way out of the wreckage of the forward onto dawn and being brought into this colourful alive world a jungle biome and out of the mist you see a glimpse of this creature dart by and as you go throughout the level it stalks you studying you. something like this would to me at least be pretty cool.
I would be great if it begins in a black screen and the only thing we hear are the last lines from H3 after credits and right after Chief says “Wake me, when you need me” it shows “Halo 4” on screen and inmediately cuts to Cortana yelling “Chief, I need you!!! WAKE UP” and BAM! we take control of John in the cryo-tube.
I think the game in general will be more of an all around game than has been in the past. I know its an fps but they stated they are not going to rely on the traditional fps blueprint, but more on mystery and discovery. If that’s the case I would assume the “Ancient Enemy” will not show up until halfway through or near the end of the game. They will lead up to it. My personal belief is that there will be Forerunners in conflict like we have learned was happening in Primordium/Cryptum. So this will lead to the Didact becoming the role of the Arbiter, at first is bad, then common enemy ties them together. In this case, the Flood/Precursor potentially.

just like ce kinda, in 343 when you run across the log and fall off and go left to the skull location a flood dashes from a tree to another and its a just a black shadow.
