The amount of grind related to the event is insane

Here’s my remaining Last Man Standing challenges which mind you are spread out on purpose so you can’t work on them all concurrently…

  • get 10 melee kills
  • complete 6 matches
  • kill 10 enemy Spartans
  • get 10 melee kills
  • complete 4 matches
  • earn 10000 cumulative XP

That’s a lot of grind just for the event. Oh, and of course these challenges are mixed in with normal Seasonal challenges because heaven forbid you might not want to focus on the event. The ridiculous part again is that these challenges won’t necessarily be active at the same time so I’d have to play 10 matches of LMS to get 2 challenges done and then probably at least that many more to get the cumulative XP challenge done.

I’m going to repeat what I said in another thread… just drop this challenge system completely. I’d rather be given credit for just playing a fixed number of hours per week. At least that way I know exactly how much time/effort I need to put in if I want to instead of the arbitrary and RNG based challenges.

You can pick off the non-event ones so that you have four (or three) LMS ones going though. That way you at least maximise your LMS games.

That actually looks like a good set of challenges. I’d definitely get the melee ones working at the same time though.

You should be able to pick those off inside a week without raising a sweat.

I appreciate the vote of confidence on getting these done but I think I’ll probably just ignore them. I’m not really feeling the LMS mode at all tbh.

On a similar but different note, they completely stuffed the FFA playlist full of random gametypes now.

I’ve been trying to get Vampireball to come back but I can’t get it to pop up. Jesus Christ, I’m sick of Fiesta FFA but it keeps popping up.

Oh, and I haven’t seen the new map Catalyst, all day long. Which has been a bummer.

And that’s cool. There is plenty of other stuff to do.

Besides. You have 6 months to do the battle pass…

At least this is consistent grind, not RNG grind.
What really grinds my gears is the dumb Upcoming Weekly system which staggers your challenges down to hell.

Upcoming Weekly system needs to be thrown out the window.

I played again tonight and have almost completed all of my Weekly challenges. I’m on the last 2 now. Just need to win 1 more PvP game and finish getting the 10000 cumulative XP in LSS (I’m at 6800 now). I even won 3 LSS matches tonight which has helped a lot. I still don’t really care for the mode overall though.

Anyway, last night I was partly in a bad mood from a long day of work and was tired. I probably shouldn’t have played at all last night. Getting the melee kills in LSS wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be and neither was the match completions but only because I got them to all be active & overlap for most of the time. Other people won’t be as lucky as me with their challenges or their ability to get them done in a reasonable time. I still hope 343 reconsiders the entire progression system. It just feels bad and frustrating; probably because it was designed around the monetization system.

yea i got 2 of the 10000-point challenges i’m not too happy about it, LSS is pretty garbage

My two favorites:

  • Kill 50 Spartans in LSS
  • 25 melee kills in LSS

agreed. i was shocked with the amount of event challenges i had that were all just LSS challenges. currently grinding my final one to get 50 kills in LSS before the ultimate challenge…ridiculous

The ultimate is to only play 3 games of LSS so that’s a relief.

In the case of minimising the amount of LMS matches, then yes, that’s the way to go, though I’d argue completing non-event challenges first, to line up LMS challenges, would increase the required matches, and grind, overall.

The grinding wouldn’t be as monotonous if we could play on more than one map.

Just because it’s the first new map in six months, doesn’t mean I want to play on it non stop…

I’m glad we get to play on it a lot so I get to try it out a bunch, but rather than waiting until next week I wish they treated it like the flight and released a new map each day or two. That way we don’t have to grind the same map all week for challenges. I have 25 melee kills so going to take me ages.

Why would they change things to benefit the player base when the BP on the way it was designed wavfor padded playtime?

Basically it’s set up to show numbers because 343 released literally a barbone game. So there thought process was, how do we keep them playing and the BP was their only “solution”.

Seriously, RNG in Halo?:joy::man_facepalming:

Problem with all the melee kills is (at least on my list) says they have to be to the back.

Then last night I finally managed to smack someone square in the back as they were collecting one of those bubbles. But he didn’t die, he turned and killed me even though I had hit him in the back and shot him just as much as he shot.

He did not show an overshield on.

99 times out of 100 when I’m going after someone I get shot in the back.

I was very unimpressed when 5 and 10 headshots were worth the same EXP and 25 headshots was worth only 100 more in comparison. Feels like the EXP rewards are as random as the challenge itself…

Still, did it all in a day which makes it even less fun…
Had the same problem with Tenrai, could finish it all in 1 day - just didn’t finish that Event Pass because I could only play 2 of the 6 available weeks.

Would rather have either more rewards or harder challenges with bigger EXP rewards.

Compared to the challenges of the previous season, that list doesn’t look anywhere near as bad. At least there are no mode-specific challenges. Still a garbage system and needs scrapping.

I’m undecided. I like long hard challenges over a long period of time but weekly when playtime can be restricted fast and easy is my jam. I would preferably play Halo 5-10 hours per week.

Usually that’s enough to do all challenges but half the time I’d have to focus a fair bit of my playtime on them. At the moment I’m not a huge fan of the challenges I’m seeing.

In the end 343 did well with removing FOMO from the main pass but added these Events that induce FOMO anyways. It would be fun to have harder challenges but because of FOMO and possible lack of time during the limited event people wouldn’t want that.
