The amount of deaths from getting Ambushed/Lack of Sound Queues is absurd

I honestly feel like it wouldn’t make any difference if I just took my headset off and played as if I was Deaf in many matches, especially Ranked.

The number of times you just get NO audio queues from enemies, or they’re extremely muted is insane. This honestly needs to be the #1 Gameplay-issue they look at first. The fact that you can dead-on sprint at someone and they can’t hear until you’re gently caressing their shoulder with the butt of your rifle is nuts.

I’ve submitted it as a bug yes, but it honestly feels like a deliberate design decision because even when facing the direction of enemies, you can barely hear them, even just around the corner.

Soundscape is the single biggest “Situational Awareness” tool and factor in a game, only behind the camera angle. Why is it in something like Gears 5 you can perfectly keep track of a Kait or Myrrah by listening to their footsteps, even on the other side of a wall despite the game being 3rd Person and not needing that deep a sound level, but in Halo a 2-ton super soldier sounds like Sam Fisher in a monastery half the time?

Im not saying this is better but im guessing they suspect you will use the motion tracker to monitor your flank.

I actually just play with my headphones off and watching TV now as it makes no difference. Worst spatial audio in an fps I can remember. But no the gameplay is perfect 11/10 best halo game ever

I noticed this too. I turned the dynamic audio off. What bugs me out at times is that my team mates footsteps are loud as hell but not the enemies. Slowly but surely I’m noticing that i could hear enemy sounds. My headsets pretty cranked up tho man. I had to adjust all the sliders and party chat mix so much to get it to a bearable level. In the previous halo, I don’t think I messed with anything…but…I think in that game footsteps were too loud. It became ridiculous to have to do that weird stutter step just to not be heard. Lol

When I took a break from halo i tried out apex legends. Dude that game will SPOIL your ears. The footsteps are pin point accurate. You can immediately tell how far, how low or high, to your left right etc. I think that would be overkill in halo…but I can’t tell if maybe it’s just that experience that spoiled my ears even more and exaggerated this problem to the extreme at first.

I think you left out “for me” in your title… I definitely do not have this problem lmao but I also have good awareness and map/game knowledge.

I’ve maybe been back smacked 3 times out of well over 100 ranked games.
