Look, I’m a veteran player, and I’ve had no problems with aiming in any past Halo titles. (Yes, even HALO 3) But honestly, don’t give me that bs about how there is “less aim assist” because that’s just a lie. If you compare using a BR at long range in HALO 3 to using a BR at long Range in Halo 5 you’ll see what I mean. You still get aim assist after they stop glowing red in your cross hairs in Halo 5 whereas in Halo 3 the aim assist just completely shut off if they weren’t in that red cross hair’s area.
I went a bit off topic there, but oh well. The point is that the aiming system in Halo 5 is simply complete garbage. There are two different styles of ways that people aim in shooters. You either make small adjustments or you move the stick all the way to the edge to make your adjustments. (forgot the technical term for this) Halo 5’s aiming system is only good for one of these type of play styles, and that’s the people who make small careful adjustments. (I personally move my stick all the way to the edge to make my adjustments) We need a way to just make the normal movement of the joystick feel like we’re playing an older Halo game. (CE, HALO 2-4, Reach) I don’t think that you should remove the current aiming system, but I think that we should have an option to switch it back to the older system, because I’m currently really involved in playing other games and I just find it angering to go back and play Halo 5.
Let me know down below how you guys feel about this topic. ~JD
I had to tinker with my dead zones a little to get it closer to prior games. I ended up making it so I had to move the joysticks more before the acceleration kicked in. It gave me more play in the stick. I would recommend only tinkering with one at a time and only in small increments to see what feels better and what feels worse.
It’s really one of those things that 343 just needs to look back on the older games like H2A, H4, or even CoD for designing an intuitive aiming system. Really not that hard to even go back to the h5 beta for the aim system, yet 343 arbitrarily decided to drastically alter this for no particular reason, making halo 5 feel jarring to aim after playing older halo titles or other FPS games.

What are your settings at?
I know what you mean. It took me days to figure out a mildly decent setting, everything is all messed.

Actually, there was a reason. Someone on the pro team said the aiming in the beta was “squirrelly”. Apparently this is reason enough to murder a perfectly fine aiming system.

Oh, I’ve definitely heard of that complaint from what I believe to be Ghostayame. Question is, why was that never a problem in any previous halo?

Exactly.
